What were you doing at six years old? It is safe to assume you were not getting sworn in as an official Texas police officer, but that is exactly what pint-sized Abigail Arias was recently up to.

The Freeport, Texas native suffers from Wilms tumor, a kind of kidney cancer found in children. Sadly, physicians have said that Abigail’s prognosis is not a positive one.

She took it upon herself to blueprint a plan to help fight “the bad guys” taking residence in her body.

Young Miss Arias aspired to become a police officer to officially combat them.

During a Pancakes With Santa event, she confided this wish to Freeport Police Chief, Raymond Garivey Jr.

He set out to make this wish a reality.

He recently told CNN, “Her terrific smile and will to keep fighting ‘the bad guys’ inside of her — I wanted to make her dream come true.”

At the beginning of February 2019, the brave little lady donned a custom-designed uniform and was officially sworn in by Garivey, while the public servant had difficulty holding back his emotions.

Ruben and Ilene Arias, Abigail’s father and mother, are doing their best to treasure each day they have left with her.

Ruben has admitted how difficult it is to not be able to help one’s own child when a terminal diagnosis strikes.

They have described their daughter as being a tough girl, and there is no ruling out a miracle just yet.

If anyone deserves it, it is Freeport’s newest officer.

Life gets busy, and too often we do not pause to take stock of life’s positive moments, especially in the face of sadness. Spreading the word of this junior policewoman’s innate bravery and positivity serves to remind others how precious life is.
