Little Boy Dying Of Cancer Makes Sure His Parents Find His Last Request In The Obituary He Wrote For Himself

Cancer is one of the most earth-shattering illnesses a person and their loved ones can endure, but it's especially tough whenever a child has to fight. Ryan and Emilie Matthias had to watch their 5-year-old boy Garrett battle a rare form of cancer for 9 months. Despite all of his pain, Garrett never lost his spirit.

It wasn't unusual for Garrett's doctors and nurses to find themselves in the middle of a prank. Garrett was clever and playful throughout the entire course of his treatment. Even though Garrett was the one who could use some laughs, he loved to make everyone around him laugh instead.

Ryan and Emilie faced every parent's worst nightmare the day they learned that the doctors couldn't do anything more to save Garrett. They faced a grim dilemma. How were they supposed to tell their small child that his cancer was terminal?

Ryan and Emilie decided to avoid talking about the details of Garrett's inevitable passing or his funeral. Instead, Emilie told WHO TV, “We had a lot of conversations around ‘When I die, I want to do this.'”

Unfortunately, Garrett passed away in July of 2018, but the video of the obituary he wrote for himself before he died has since gone viral.

Not only does Garrett, otherwise known as “The Great Garrett Underpants,” let his beautiful sense of humor shine through in his obituary, he also requests two final things from his parents.

Check out Garrett's video below to hear his last wish.
