Benjamin Keough — the 27-year-old son of Lisa Marie Presley and grandson of rock ‘n’ roll legend Elvis Presley — tragically passed away on Sunday, July 13, near Los Angeles, California as his mother's representative confirmed.

The news about Benjamin’s death left Lisa Marie Presley “beyond devastated” as her representative, Roger Widynowski, told People in a statement:

"She is completely heartbroken, inconsolable and beyond devastated but trying to stay strong for her 11-year-old twins and her oldest daughter Riley," Widynowski went on. "She adored that boy. He was the love of her life."

Benjamin, who Presley shared with her ex-husband Danny Keough, had been found dead on Sunday morning with a gunshot wound in his upper torso, as Deputy Juanita Navarro-Suarez of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department revealed according to NBC Los Angeles.

While circumstances of Keough's death were initially unclear law enforcement sources told TMZ the gunshot wound might have been self-inflicted.

The 27-year-old’s death doesn’t only break his mother’s heart, but also leaves his siblings, sister Riley Keough, 31, and his two half-sisters 11-year-old twins, Harper and Finley, whom Lisa Marie Presley shares with ex-husband Michael Lockwood, in deep sorrow.

One of Lisa Marie’s latest posts on her Twitter from 2019 shows the singer with all of her children huddled up for a photo, son Benjamin can be seen leaning onto his sister Riley. The post’s caption reads, “Mama Lion with cubs❤️ 💙 🖤 💛 🦁 😘 .”

In an interview from 2012, Lisa Marie Presley revealed that while all of her children had “a little bit” of her late father, Elvis Presley, in them, it is son Benjamin who is resembles the rock ‘n’ roll icon the most.

“He was at the Opry and was the quiet storm behind the stage!” Lisa Marie Presley stated in 2012. “Everybody turned around and looked when he was over there. Everybody was grabbing him for a photo because it is just uncanny. Sometimes I am overwhelmed when I look at him.”

Maybe Benjamin’s resemblance to her father was the reason why she had such a close bond with her son. Back in 2009, mother and son even got matching tattoos on Mother’s Day. As Presley revealed on Twitter, “it is a Celtic eternity knot,” meant to represent their eternal love and connection.
