Life Savings Of Over $26,000 Stashed In Empty Gravy Cans Thrown Out By Family Members

If you work hard to earn a meager living, you know the value of a dollar. One woman from Scotland spent her whole life working, and managed to save $26,000 by the time she was 80. Unfortunately, some helpful (or not so helpful in this case) family members threw it into the trash out when they came to clean her house.

To their credit, the money was hidden in some unassuming old gravy cans – five to be exact. The family was obviously devastated when they realized what had happened; the trash had already been taken away. But their devastation was soon replaced by hope when two recycling workers offered to rifle through the refuse to look for the fortune.

Kenny McAdam and Tony Scanlon undoubtedly also know the value of hard-earned money. They took two hours out of their workday to look for the poor woman’s life savings. To the delight of the family, who stood by watching, the men finally located the cans of money and returned them to their owner, reports The Daily Record.

Kenny said it felt amazing to be able to help the family out, and that the whole situation made him think about his own “wee granny”. The woman expressed her gratitude and her daughter shed a few tears of relief.

The other worker, Tony, had promised the family that they would do their best to find the lost money, noting that he had previously found other valuable things like wedding and bridesmaids dresses. It was Tony who found the first one and Kenny who came across the other four.

Kenny added, “it’s things like this that make the job worth it.”

Their selfless efforts and willingness to help were praised at the dump where they work, which is very busy and located just west of Glasgow.

If you were in the position of Tony or Kenny, would you have taken the time to sort through the trash? Be honest. Make sure your friends and family have a chance to read this heartwarming story; it just might restore some faith in humanity.
