Not only that but the fund aims to implement long-term solutions to restore and repopulate unique ecosystems destroyed by the wildfires, increasing climate resilience and reducing the threat of future wildfires.

According to estimates on the funds' site, the wildfires have burned over 20 million acres, killed more than 27 people, over 1 billion animals have died because of the fires and over 2,200 homes destroyed during this particularly devastating bushfire season.

This is not the first fund Dicaprio's organization has set up a fund for. Last summer, Dicaprio's organization raised money for the Amazon rainforest fires.

While Dicaprio's organization has been doing a lot of life-saving, the actor himself has been a hero. While vacationing on a boat in the Caribbean, Dicaprio's boat got a distress call that a man had fallen overboard on a cruise ship. A source told Eonline, "They were the only responders there looking for him, hours away, in the middle of the ocean."

The 24-year-old French man whom they eventually rescued had been treading water for almost 11 hours. "Everyone on board was looking for him in rough water. The man was waving his hand and was found an hour before it got dark."
