Late Officer’s Car Is Covered In Flowers And Gifts, But One Handwritten Note Amazes The Community

A boy discovers that his role-model was killed in an accident while on duty.

A very brave police officer lost his life after an intense car chase. A car accident took Officer Charles Irvine’s life at the young age of only 23 years old. A wonderful man’s life was taken far too soon while he was trying to uphold the law for the rest of us. You should take a minute to really think about his sacrifices in honor of his family.

It was only a few days later when a young boy named Avant Turner paid a visit to the public memorial for Irvine. The twelve-year-old Turner had made his way down to pay his respects at the District 4 Police Station.

Turner was in awe of the beautiful display that the community organized in Irvine’s memory. His Squad-Car was on display with thousands of flowers all across it. You could hardly see the car underneath the huge amount of gifts that everyone had brought. Turner was amazed at the site.

He had no idea that the fallen Officer was his friend. He looked at the photo to see the face of the Officer that had formed a strong bond with him recently. Turner was completely devastated to know that his role-model in the community had lost his life.

It’s so hard for us as adults to face the death of a friend, but turner was only a boy. He had no idea what he was walking into when he went to the memorial that day. I’m sure you can understand how much of a shock it was to him. One day your friend is protecting the streets, and the next day he’s gone. The boy did the only thing he knew to do. He went to school to write down all he had to say with the help of a few teachers.

Turner took his handwritten letter back to the memorial site at the police station. A plain piece of paper in the middle of all those flowers might not look like much, but it expresses more than anything else on that Squad-Car.
