Lady Gaga Discusses Her "Psychotic Break" And Fibromyalgia With Oprah
Jan 07, 2020 by apost team
There is often the assumption that a celebrity is living an excellent life with the best medical care possible. On-stage with Oprah Winfrey, Lady Gaga described that not only had she suffered from what she described as a psychotic break, but that she lived in constant pain.
Lady Gaga is a singer known for the controversy she often engenders. But very little could have prepared many for the revelation she would make on Oprah Winfrey and WW's 2020 Vision: Your Life In Focus Tour in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
While she had her hair an even brighter shade of pink than before and wore stunning clothing as one would expect of her, she was free about her health problems and her past, Harper's Bazaar reports.

Without a hint of pretension, she spoke about her psychotic break, describing the experience. "My whole body started tingling and I started screaming. I was in a hospital. It’s very difficult to describe what it feels like other than that you first start to tingle from head to toe and then you go numb." But that was not the end of the story.
"The brain goes, 'That’s enough, I don’t want to think about this anymore. I don’t want to feel this anymore.' Boom. You break from reality as you know it," she described. "I know this is controversial in a lot of ways, but medicine really helped me", quoted Harper's Bazaar.
Hoping that sharing her experience could help other people who've had psychotic breaks, the singer also spoke in-depth about PTSD she suffered from repeated rapes when she was 19, and her later diagnosis with fibromyalgia, also with Harper's Bazaar.
Giving reason to her illness, she described, "this happened for a reason. All the things I’ve been through," she was quoted. "I radically accepted they happened because God was saying to me, 'I’m gonna show you pain. And then you’re going to help other people who are in pain because you’re going to understand it.'"
