Emerging from their seats in the audience, the pair took the stage, which had a simple setup of just a piano and a chair. As always, their beautiful duet did not disappoint.

Many stars like Laverne Cox of Orange is the New Black took to Twitter to express their admiration for the exceptional performance:

"Why am I trying to give a standing ovation in my apartment on my fractured foot after #LadyGaga and #BradleyCooper's performance of #Shallow at the #Oscars ? Cause it was bonkers, beyond and insanely amazingly good. Though I applauded seated, the standing O was there in spirit."

Tyra Banks echoed Laverne's sentiments, saying: "Ok, so I’m DEEPly touched by @ladygaga and Bradley Cooper’s #Shallow performance. #AcademyAwards"

"“Shallow” is simply magnificent. Congratulations to all the writers. Lady Gaga is phenomenal! #Oscars," said Billie Jean King.

The stars weren’t the only ones who had their breaths taken away; Fans also took to social media to express how much they loved the duet:

One fan cheekily commednted: "I thought they were going to break out into a makeout session at the end there. I hope they get married and have many cute babies."

"Just an amazing performance as expected for the soundtrack’s queen Shallow and Lady Gaga I can’t be more proud of her,"

"I didn't get to watch all of the #Oscars yet, but the first thing I did this morning was watch this performance. Amazing doesn't begin to sum it up. I loved absolutely everything about it," summed up one fan perfectly.

Their song won Best Original Song that night and, humble as always, Gaga was completely blown away by the honor when accepting the award on stage.

‘Bradley, there is not a single person on the planet that could have sang this song with me but you; Thank you for believing in us, thank you so much!’

Said Lady Gaga while accepting the award with tears of joy rushing down her face.

"If you are watching this right now, all I have to say is that this is hard work. I've worked hard for a long time and it's not about winning, but what it's about is not giving up. If you have a dream, fight for it.”
