Labrador Stops Newborn Baby's Cries

Having a child is one of the most precious things parents can experience. It's also one of the most anxious experiences you're likely to have. You have to prepare for the child, learn how to take care of the precious new life you've been given, and worry about all the things that come with parenthood.

One of the things you will have to learn is that most babies cry. Taking care of a crying child can be very taxing on the parents and often, some help is appreciated. This video posted back in 2016 shows that help does not always have to be human, as this kind Labrador tries to calm his family's new addition.

This Labrador is called Peanut. The golden pup clearly has no problem with the new addition to the family and seems ready to help out any time. The video features Peanut and the newborn on a rug and big pillow. The little tyke, wrapped up in a blanket, clearly wants to complain about something and starts crying. He's upset about something or maybe wants some attention. As most parents will know, babies can cry for a variety of reasons.

The baby's crying clearly worries Peanut. The Lab looks from the child to the camera questioningly and then cautiously approaches the newborn. At first, he takes a few sniffs to see what the problem might be. Then he starts gently licking the child along the arm and side to calm it down. After a few short seconds, the cries stop. It's not immediately clear whether this was because the child was calmed or just confused about what is happening, but Peanut certainly gave it his best.

Maybe a bit of attention was all the baby wanted. When Peanut goes back in for a few more licks, the little one can be seen stretching his arm towards the dog, trying to get a feel for what is licking him. This video is already a few years old, but the parents of these two bundles of joy decided to open an Instagram account where they chronicle the adventures of Peanut the Lab and his kid-sidekick, referred to as "Possum" in the posts.
