Labrador Retriever Stops Newborn Baby From Crying

Jul 02, 2020 by apost team

Peanut the Labrador retriever lovingly interacts with an upset baby in video footage released by Rumble.

Peanut the Labrador retriever may not know exactly what to do when the baby in the video starts to cry, but she must do something! Dogs, with their extremely sensitive hearing, may struggle to tolerate the crying of a newborn. However, Peanut handles the baby's upset magnificently.

An Arm Escapes

Early in the video we see that the little one is swaddled, arms close to the body. As the baby gets upset, an arm comes free. Peanut shoots a quick look at the camera holder, then gets to work soothing the infant and checking in.

Peanut nuzzles the baby gently and begins to lick the child. The baby stills and stops fussing caught up in the sensations and the presence of Peanut.

Checking In

Again, Peanut takes a look at the camera holder. This delightful dog has a strong understanding of the running of the household and appears to be trying to flesh out her place in the new configuration created by the newborn baby.

Baby Reaches Out Again

After Peanut backs off, the baby gets an arm free. She tolerates the absence of Peanut only a little bit longer, before the fussing begins again. We humans have long had the luxury of taking our upsets and disruptions to our canine pals, and Peanut is doing a great job of continuing the tradition.

Great Babysitter

At no point is the baby at any risk from the dog. Peanut seems to be working to reassure the baby, giving gentle reminders and nudges that all is well and that there's no reason at all to raise a ruckus.

Infant Energy

There's no greater joy or disruption in a household than the addition of a baby. Whether the baby is human, canine, or feline, the energy of little creatures greatly increases the joy in a household. Thanks to the strong nanny skills of Peanut the Labrador, this little human will know love from all members of the house.

Canine Empathy

We humans have long been blessed with a companion that is deeply empathetic. Even when we're too little to appreciate them, dogs offer babies, children, adults, and seniors companionship and kindness. If this video made you smile, let us know in the comments and be sure to pass it along.
