The Labradoodle is one of the world's most beloved breeds of dogs. However, its original cross-breeder recently said that he regrets creating what he refers to as a monster.

On a recent Australian podcast, the original cross-breeder said that he opened a Pandora's box and released Frankenstein's monster when he created this unique breed of dog that is a blend of a Labrador and a Poodle.

90-year-old Wally Conron created the dog in 1989 when he was working as a breeding manager for the Australian organization, Guide Dogs Victoria.

According to ABC Australia, Sultan, the first labradoodle bred by Conron was bred as a guide dog for a blind woman who could not own most traditional dogs because her husband was allergic to fur.

"She wanted to know if we could come up with a dog that she could use as a guide dog and her husband wouldn't be allergic to," Conron told the ABC Australia podcast.

The breed quickly took off with many people wanting to also own a Labradoodle. By the time Wally realized what was happening, it was too late to stop the growing popularity of the dog breed. While many people adore their Labradoodle because they are so intelligent and adorable, Wally says that he regrets the decision to feed into the designer dog trend.

This statement by Wally has left many dog lovers scratching their heads in amazement. How can anyone want to take back creating this special kind of dog?

"I opened Pandora's box and released a Frankenstein Monster."

The creation of the labradoodle created a boom in the dog breeding industry, where many dogs were being crossbred to create new so-called "designer" breeds. The practice has lead to many health problems for dogs who are a result of the industry. Additionally, people are choosing to buy dogs from puppy mills, which function for profit, over dogs at shelters who get euthanized because not enough people adopt.
