Kylie Minogue Breaks Down At Glastonbury After Missing Show 14 Years Ago Due To Breast Cancer

Kylie Minogue got to make it to Glastonbury’s Pyramid Stage after missing out in 2005 due to her breast cancer diagnosis. For her 2019 set, she performed an incredible selection of her pop songs and covers, and addressed audience members about why it was an especially extraordinary gig.

Aussie songstress Kylie Minogue took to the headlining stage at Glastonbury yesterday to show the world what she wanted to give them fourteen years ago. She told her screaming fans, "In 2005 I was meant to be here. Circumstances meant that I did not make it,” referring to her illness.

Kylie teared up, and had to pause while she recounted her history, but with the support of the audience she was able to get through what she wanted to say and reminded everyone to be present, "I wished things were different—but life is what it is," she said. "We're all here in this moment."

51-year-old Kylie then brought the party and shimmied through her countless hits like “Spinning Around,” and “Slow,” and even brought some guest stars on stage including fellow Aussie Nick Cave and Coldplay’s Chris Martin.

Kylie played in the “legends” slot following the footsteps of the Bee Gees and Lionel Richie who had all played in years before her. She announced her participation back in December and said it was going to be a “special show.” With the emotional weight of the day paired with her talent, it ended up certainly being a special show.
