Kylie Jenner Gets Undressed on the Met Gala 2026 Red Carpet in a Schiaparelli Gown That Took 11,000 Hours to Make

Kylie Jenner has never shown up to the Met Gala just to blend in — and Monday night's 2026 gala in New York City was no exception. The Kylie Cosmetics founder, 28, has been a fixture at fashion's biggest night since her debut in 2016, missing only one year since. And over the years, she has built a track record of looks that range from deeply personal to outright show-stopping.
Perhaps her most meaningful Met moment came in 2022, when she arrived in a bridal Off-White gown as a tribute to the brand's late founder, Virgil Abloh. Complete with a backward baseball cap and veil, the look recreated the finale from Abloh's final collection. "Virgil and I were supposed to go to the Met together before it got postponed in 2020," Jenner wrote on Instagram at the time. "To celebrate V tonight and his incredible legacy truly means the world to me."
The years that followed kept her firmly in the conversation. Her 2023 look — a red-and-blue Haider Ackermann for Jean Paul Gaultier gown rumored to be a subtle nod to her boyfriend, Timothée Chalamet — was so restrictive that she couldn't sit down all night. Last year, she stepped out in a herringbone wool Ferragamo gown with a sheer corset waist.
Chalamet, for his part, skipped this year's gala — much like he did in 2025 when he stayed home to watch the Knicks playoffs. With the Knicks facing the Philadelphia 76ers later Monday night, it appears his priorities were once again pulling him elsewhere. The couple has otherwise been red-carpet regulars lately, including a Broadway outing just this past weekend.

So when Jenner arrived solo on the Met Gala 2026 red carpet, she clearly decided to make the absence irrelevant. She bleached her eyebrows, wore her hair parted to the side with soft waves and a gelled curl at the front, and accessorized with dramatic diamond and pearl earrings and a matching collar necklace — skipping bracelets and rings entirely to let the look breathe.
This year's Met Gala theme, "Costume Art," centers on embracing the body — and Jenner leaned into that concept as far as possible. She arrived in a Schiaparelli gown that stopped the carpet cold. The back featured a heavily embellished pearl-covered train that demanded attention from every angle. But it was the front that truly landed the moment.
The gown appeared to be falling open — revealing a nude illusion corset underneath, complete with faux nipples, belly button and sculpted body contours. It was a direct nod to the "dressed body" element of this year's theme, and it landed exactly the way Schiaparelli intended.
The craftsmanship behind it is almost as staggering as the look itself. According to a press release, the gown required roughly 11,000 hours of embroidery, incorporating 2,000 satin-stitch balls, more than 7,000 painted pearlescent fish scales, and 10,000 natural baroque pearls. Ten thousand.
For a woman who has spent a decade making the Met Gala her personal runway, Jenner just raised the bar on what it means to get dressed for fashion's biggest night.
