Kurt Russell Enjoys Time Being A Grandpa While Living Quiet Life With Partner Goldie Hawn

Just when people think Kurt Russell is already the best man a woman could ever wish for, including being a great dad to his kids and a loving husband to his partner, the actor has added another feather to his cap – being a doting grandpa. And just like most grandparents, he is making the most out of his time being the best grandpa to his grandchildren.

Kurt has been dating his partner, Goldie Hawn, for 40 years. The couple has been together since 1983 after initially meeting in 1966 while filming together. However, they reconnected on the set of their film "Swing Shift," and have been inseparable ever since, even going on to star in more movies together after becoming romantically involved. However, the couple never chose to get married. 

Their adorable and loving relationship is the sweetest, with the obvious affection they have for each other more akin to a group of teenage sweethearts than a couple that's been together for four decades.

While the couple continued working prolifically in Hollywood after they got together, they also placed a lot of importance on family. They each brought children into their partnership — Hawn with Oliver and Kate Hudson, and Kurt with Boston Russell, whom he shares with ex-wife Season Hubley. Together, the couple shares a son, Wyatt Russell.

With many of the kids following in their parents’s footsteps and becoming actors, the showbiz family is often seen supporting each other at premieres or spending quality time together, some of which they share on social media. 

With such a large and mixed family, one would wonder how everyone gets along, but photos on social media from Hawn and Kurt show that the family continues to be extremely close even today. 

From Hawn's side, the couple has six grandchildren, and one grandchild from their son together. Oliver shares three children with his wife Erinn Bartlett: Wilder, Bodhi and Rio. Meanwhile, Kate has three children too: Ryder, whom she shares with Chris Robinson, Bingham from her previous relationship with Matt Bellamy, and Rani, with musician Danny Fujikawa. Most recently, Wyatt and his wife Meredith Hagner welcomed a son in 2021.

Even though Kurt is not Oliver and Kate's biological father, Kate has shown time and again that the love she shares with her "pa" is strong and unwavering. 

In July 2020, Hawn shared a photo of her and Kurt together with two of their children, making a promise that they will “take care of each other now and always.”

Since Kurt and Hawn have been together for so long, it only makes sense that they would share their lives together in the same home. They have one home in Aspen, Colorado, as well as another in Los Angeles, California. Speaking with CBS Sunday Morning back in November 2020, the couple explained that they had lived in their home in Los Angeles for about four years at that time. “We built it, and it’s just so great,” Hawn said.

The home is just as stunning on the outside as it is inside, thanks to its beautiful garden. Hello! Magazine reported that the area is large enough for the whole family to gather and has a few quirks, including a giant cow statue and a meditating section. 

Hawn certainly has her hands full as a grandma. She posts quite a few pictures of her grandchildren on her Instagram page, and some recent pictures of her granddaughter Rio have brought forward quite a few comments on how much the little girl resembles her "GoGo" from her younger days.

Meanwhile, Kurt isn’t only a great father to his kids – he is also a doting grandfather to his adorable grandchildren. In fact, he loves every bit of his role as a grandpa, as he's expressed his fondness toward his grandchildren several times.

Kate, for one, shared in December 2018 a photo of Kurt and Hawn holding their grandchild in their arms. 

“Grandma and Grandpa duty...or should I say, Mr. and Mrs. Claus,” Kate wrote in the caption of her post.

Kurt said they love bonding together as a family. In fact, they even have a yearly activity during Christmas.

"We always trim the tree on Christmas Eve and we have a big meal,” Kurt told Closer Weekly. "The grandkids put their pajamas on and hang up their stockings. We get the fire going and when it gets dark we always choose someone to read ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas.'" 

In another photo shared by Kate to mark Father’s Day back in June 2020, Kurt could be seen gently holding his grandchild in his arms while showing a big smile on his face. By the look on his face, one could definitely tell how happy and proud he is as a grandfather.

“I love him to pieces. Happy Father's Day to our Pa,” Kate said.

Kurt took his grandfather duties to the next level after dressing up as a prince for his granddaughter’s 4th birthday in October 2022. Hawn, on the other hand, donned a lady’s outfit. For the couple, little Rani Rose is their queen.

“Happy 4th birthday our precious Rani Rose. You are the real queen! I’ll take Lady in waiting every day as long as the prince is always beside me! WE LOVE YOU!” Hawn wrote.
