Kristen Bell is one of Hollywood’s most well-known leading ladies, having brought Princess Anna to life in Frozen and starring as the eponymous private detective in Veronica Mars. Bell also uses her celebrity status to make a difference in the world by helping teachers buy supplies for their students.

Bell hosts a campaign called “Featured Teacher Friday” on her Instagram page, allowing educators from around the country to tell their stories and post links to their Amazon wish lists. The actress says that the campaign will continue “until the end of time,” promising that she will work on the behalf of teachers until every educator has everything they need to teach their students.

Thus far, the results have been amazing for those selected by Bell to be part of her campaign. As Bell has over 12 million followers, teachers usually get more than they expect to get.

Bell’s most recent post focused on Emily, a kindergarten teacher at Flint, Michigan’s Woodland Park Academy. Nominated by her friend Brooke, Emily says that this is her first year teaching and that she looks at her students like family. Emily says that most of her students come from impoverished families and, due to bussing schedules, many of the kids start their days before 6 in the morning and do not return home until after 5:30 in the evening. Because the kids spend most of the day at school, she tries to make her classroom as much like a home as possible. Part of that mission involves giving dozens of hugs each day and talking to her students to ensure that they are doing well. As Woodland Park Academy is small, teachers at the school have some of the lowest salaries in the state, making it imperative for Emily to rely on donations. After Emily's story went viral, the school posted a photo of all the support they received from Bell’s followers in the form of dozens of Amazon packages.

Another of Bell’s recently featured educators was fifth-grade teacher Kristen Williamson of Omaha, Nebraska. Kristen says that she teaches a class of 23 students who speak 13 different languages and are from countries as diverse as Sudan, Mexico, Kenya, Cuba, and Guatemala.

Kristen’s main objective is to create a classroom library that will be as diverse as her students and teach them about different cultures, science, and immigration. Kristen says that those who donate to her wish list will instill a love of reading in her students and make her classroom feel like a home.
