Gianna was Kobe Bryant’s second child with his wife, Vanessa. Just like her father, she too was a passionate basketball player. The doting dad would often post photos and videos with his daughter at her games on social media.

Bryant even told Jimmy Kimmel he saw Gianna as his ‘heir’ to his legacy back in 2018.

"The best thing that happens is when we go out and fans would come up to me and she'll be standing next to me," Bryant told Kimmel, "and they'll be like, 'You've gotta have a boy, you and V gotta have a boy. You gotta have somebody to carry on your tradition, the legacy."

"She's like, 'Oy, I got this," Bryant said. "I'm like that's right," Bryant said. "Yes, you do, you got this."

The Federal Aviation Administration confirmed the basketball star was traveling on an S-76 helicopter Sunday morning when it crashed into a hillside in Calabasas, California, as per the Washington Post.

Bryant was traveling with his 13-year-old daughter Giana “GiGi” Bryant,  another six passengers, and a pilot. There were no survivors.

TMZ reports the group was en route to Mamba Academy near Thousand Oaks, California, for basketball practice when the helicopter crashed.

The cause of the crash is currently under investigation by local authorities, but eyewitnesses tell TMZ they “heard the helicopter's engine sputtering” before it crashed.

Gianna is survived by her mother Vanessa, whom Kobe married in 2001, and her three sisters.

Our deepest condolences go out to the Bryant family.
