Thankfully, the official report also notes that the death of all nine victims of this tragedy must have ocurred instantly. None of the tragic crash's victims will have suffered. This is a small point of solace of course, but knowing your loved one did not suffer pain can be a comfort for those left behind.

Officials fast-tracked the examinations, doing round-the-clock testing of all evidence left behind in order to quickly and correctly identify the dead. Only four victims could be identified by fingerprints, the other five needed DNA analysis. According to an article of the L.A. Times, a public memorial service is being planned.

L.A.'s mayor, Eric Garcetti, remarked:

“There will absolutely be a memorial to mark the contributions of this incredible man and not only him, but to commemorate the loss of his daughter and all the other families that were there,” Garcetti said Thursday. “We don’t have that date finalized but we’ve been talking every day to the Lakers, and most importantly, to [Bryant’s widow, Vanessa] as well."
