Jennifer Donini, an Illinois resident, was in shock after realizing that there was a kitten who had hitched a ride under the hood of her car as she was driving home from a weekend trip to Carbondale this summer. Luckily, this kitten walked away from the episode unscathed.

According to what Donini told the local KSDK station, she had been driving for close to one and a half hours when she noticed unusual meowing sounds from under the hood of her car. This took her by surprise since she could not put a finger on how the small kitten got there in the first place. She quickly pulled the car over to the side of the road to figure out where the meowing was coming from.

She contacted her mom on phone trying to get help in tracing the whereabouts of the kitten since she was driving by herself. It was during the frantic search that she popped open the hood and was surprised to find the kitten hidden in the hot interior of the hood. What surprised her even more was the fact that the cat was able to survive in the hot interior for such a long time. She also felt sad that she had been driving the car for that long without noticing that there was a guest in the hood of her car.

When Jennifer got back home from her weekend trip, she asked her family members to help her find the cat under the hood, which took them more than an hour, as KSDK reports.

The friendly Illinois family located the kitten and set him free from under the hood of the car. Seeing how lucky the kitten had been to survive the ordeal, they named him "Duck," which will now be his new name.

The kitten who is believed to be about 7 weeks old is white with brown stripes running across his fur. The outlet reported about the kitten being in perfect health and ready to resume his normal life.

Jennifer later posted on social media about the lucky kitten trying to get a new home for him. According to what she told the KSDK, she was able to match Duck to a person who had been looking to adopt a kitten at the time. The new owner who agreed to provide a new home for Duck is the sister in law to a colleague who works in the same office as Jennifer.

Seems like luck follows this kitten everywhere he goes. "He is certainly a very lucky duck," Jennifer told KSDK.

Duck is indeed lucky for not only surviving a ride under the hood of Jennifer's car but also for finding a new home where he will be under the protection and care of his new owner. This goes to show how some of the difficult situations that we face in the world have a way of working themselves out sometimes. We too could replicate the resilience that Duck showed when riding in the hot interior of the hood in Jennifer's car whenever we are facing difficult situations.
