Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta-Jones just celebrated their 19th wedding anniversary. The couple were offered some words of advice from Michael's legendary father Kirk Douglas on how they can have a long-lasting marriage.

In a sweet social media tribute to her husband, Catherine Zeta-Jones posted a black and white photo of her and Michael from their earlier years. Next to the photo, she wrote, "Dancing in to our 20th year! Happy Anniversary my love. Such a beautiful letter from my father in law. I am touched."

The letter was from Kirk Douglas and was typed on one of his letterheads and signed by the "Spartacus" star "Daddy Kirk." The letter read:

"Dear Michael and Catherine, Happy anniversary! Michael, you learned a very important lesson, to stay married you must obey your wife! Keep practicing what I do with my wife."

Michael and Catherine first met at the 1998 Deauville Film Festival in France and wed two years later, as per People. They have two children together, Dylan, 19 and Carys, 16. Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, Douglas admitted the first time he and Catherine met did not go down too well.

“I looked at her, and I said, ‘Catherine, I’m going to be the father of your children,'” he admitted. “The first time I met her! You think that went over big?”

To this day, Michael still admits that Catherine gives him butterflies. Speaking to US Weekly about Catherine, the actor said:

“She does [still give me butterflies],” he admitted. “She cleans up pretty good.”
