The royal family has been making headlines in 2025, between the summer calendar of official royal engagements and Prince Harry’s rejected appeal for security, leaving uncertainties over future visits to the United Kingdom after his appeal was denied.
Meanwhile, the Prince of Wales’ position within the royal family was further cemented when he acquired a new title in May 2025. Prince William, 43, was appointed Great Master of the Most Honorable Order of the Bath by his father, King Charles III. Father and son stepped out decked in formal attire: long, red, elaborate robes and formal attire.
Upon his ascension to the throne, King Charles III was appointed Sovereign of the Order, and the heir apparent would traditionally be the Great Master of the Order. The event marked the 300th anniversary of the order, which was started by George I in 1725. It was also the first time King Charles attended the event as sovereign. Alongside Prince William, five individuals were appointed Knights Grand Cross at the event held at Westminster Abbey. Ultimately, this prestigious distinction honors the work of senior military officials and senior civil servants. The service occurs once every four years, with the sovereign attending once every eight years while the Great Master attends every service.
Amidst all these developments within the royal family in the UK, people couldn’t help but wonder where Prince Harry’s relationship with his father and brother stood.

Following the court’s decision to reject Prince Harry’s appeal for special security for him and his family in the UK, the Duke of Sussex opened up about feeling “let down” and “devastated” by the court’s decision. He also spoke about his royal family and their strained relationships since he and his wife, Meghan Markle, left the UK in 2020.
“There have been so many disagreements and differences between me and some of my family,” Harry said, referencing the conflict between himself and his family, which he said concerned “human life and safety” above all else.
Despite these issues, the Duke of Sussex emphasized the need to mend ties with his family, especially given King Charles’s cancer treatment and progressing age.
“I would love reconciliation with my family. I don't know how much longer my father has... but it would be nice to reconcile,” Harry added.
Prince Harry revealed that he was saddened that his children would be unable to visit his home country or relocate due to the lack of security measures, as per the court’s decision. Still, in his press release, he clarified that he would always have love for his home country despite everything that has happened.
“The UK is my birthplace and will always be part of who I am. It is a place I love, and the country where my son was born. I’ve only ever wanted to continue my charitable work in supporting the causes and people that mean so much to me, and for my children to know the beauty of my homeland,” he said, reaffirming that he remained “committed to a life of public service.”
