Kindness Is The Feature That Makes People Attractive

When it comes to relationships, everyone has their own wants and needs. Some people look for a partner that has similar interests and attributes, while others seek out someone completely different from themselves. It’s normal for men and women to think about what they hope their dream partner will be like, but it’s just as normal for people to change their opinions as time passes. 

There are also plenty of factors that go into what makes a relationship a good one and one that will stand the test of time. From communication to attraction, several components make up the complexities relationships hold.

It’s safe to say that beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Some people believe that long, blonde hair is beautiful, while others argue that shoulder-length brunettes are actually the most beautiful. Some people think that tattoos look cool and edgy, while others are completely turned off by the ink. What several people have consistently been able to agree upon is that kindness is one of the most beautiful qualities a personality can possess.

Kindness is also something that shows just how beautiful a person’s heart really is. Whether you’re looking for someone that you can lean on during tough times or you want to show that you are dependable, kindness is at the root. Studies have shown that people are more attracted to those who act kindly. Whatever the case may be in any relationship, the majority of people in the world can all collectively agree that kindness is one of the most important characteristics a person could have.

A 2019 Global Advisor survey showed that most people ranked confidence, happiness, dignity, intelligence, and kindness in the top five out of 19 attributes that make people appear beautiful, while physical attributes ranked much lower, according to Ipsos. Women ranked strength in the top 10 for what they considered beautiful in men, while men ranked strength and facial appearance at the bottom.

Carla Flamer, President of Marketing in Canada, talked about how both physical and non-physical attributes are important but explained that kindness is what is truly beautiful. “No matter how physically gorgeous someone is, if they are a rotten person, they will not appear beautiful to us for long,” Flamer said. 

Namika Sagara, the President of Ipsos’ Behavioral Science Center, agreed. She explained how at first, you may find your partner’s eyes to be their most attractive quality, but later in your relationship, you might switch it to their confidence or kindness. Your partner will still be as beautiful as they first were, but you’re now more interested in their personality as opposed to their looks.

Colin Strong works as the Global Head of Behavioral Sciences at Ipsos and argues that it’s difficult to understand what really makes us find other people attractive. With a steady increase in online dating since 2004, people first used to make superficial decisions, but that might be changing. Strong said, “Maybe this shows that in actual fact, despite this, we are all still looking for qualities in our partners that will lead to love, not just a hot date.”
