Kindhearted Firefighters Deliver Pizza After Driver's Car Gets Totaled In Accident

It’s always an incredible thing to hear a great story about a person or group of people going above-and-beyond to help a total stranger. It is a great reminder that there are still such loving, selfless hearts in the world. It lifts everyone up to remember that there are people who will drop everything to help someone in need, even if it is just to deliver some pizza.

KWTX reported that a local woman was delivering some piping hot pizzas to St. Paul’s Episcopal School. She had the great responsibility of delivering 23 pizzas to some very eager, pizza-loving students at the school. 185 students were waiting with bated breath in anticipation for some delicious pizza. After all, when you’re in grade school, is there anything better than a surprise pizza day?

As the woman drove the special pizzas to be delivered to the students, her car was involved in an unforeseen collision. The woman, Nancy, didn’t know what to do. She found out that her car was totaled and, to most people’s surprise, she was still incredibly focused on making sure that the pizzas got to the well-deserving students at St. Paul’s Episcopal School.

The Waco, Texas Fire Department was on the scene almost immediately. Their team worked to make sure that Nancy was alright and had no serious injuries. Miraculously, Nancy received only minimal damage during the accident that totaled her car. She made it clear to the firefighters that responded how worried she was that the pizza wouldn’t make it to the students on time.

The four firefighters wanted to give Nancy peace of mind so she could focus on herself and on the next steps. They all agreed that they would rush the pizzas to the school. Four firefighters (Tracy Blackshear, Colby Kubala, Jonathan Ferguson, and John Fogle) loaded all 23 pizza boxes into their firetruck and drove them right over to St. Paul’s. The firefighters were greeted by 185 smiling students and thankful school staff.

M’Lissa Howen, Head of School for St. Paul’s, told KWTX that the Waco Fire Department “saved the day.”

Waco’s Fire Chief said that while his crew’s first responsibility is always to help anyone in an emergency, it is also important to go above-and-beyond to help people in need.

“It’s not just driving and leave the person there after an emergency,  but what can we do after, what can we do to make your day better,” Waco Fire Chief Bobby Tatum told KWTX-TV.

In this case, that need was delivering piping-hot pizzas. He is incredibly proud that his team works to be more than just a fire department, but he is glad that they strive to serve their community every day.
