It's common for the children of actors and actresses to follow in their parents' footsteps in show business – that was the case for Kevin Bacon and Kyra Sedgwick’s daughter, 31-year-old Sosie Bacon. The only issue? At first, it seemed like they were reluctant to have her embark on an acting career, but eventually, they supported her in becoming the great actress that she is now.

Kevin is an American actor who is best known for the musical film "Footloose." One of Kevin's strengths is his range, which allows him to excel in many different genres. Some comedies he is remembered for include "National Lampoon's Animal House," "Tremors" and "Crazy Stupid Love." The star succeeded on television as well with his role in "The Following."

The actor has won a number of awards, including a Golden Globe Award and a Screen Actors Guild Award. Kevin has also been nominated for a Primetime Emmy Award and an Academy Award. He received his own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2003.

Sosie, on the other hand, has grown to be an excellent artist and actress like her father. She has appeared in various films like “Wishin' and Hopin',” “Ana Maria in Novela Land,” “Scream,” “Story of a Girl,” “13 Reasons Why,” “Charlie Says,” “The Last Summer,” “Wyrm,” “Narcos: Mexico,” “Mare of Easttown” and “As We See It.”

As she went on to achieve success, she still maintained a close relationship with her father, who has continuously shared precious moments with her on his Instagram account. Many have noticed that she has grown up and looks like another famous and decorated actress, who happens to be a close friend of her father.

Kevin was born on July 8, 1958, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. His father was Edmund Bacon, an urban planner responsible for much of the city's design and who has come to be known as "The Father of Modern Pennsylvania." After realizing he wanted to become an actor, Kevin moved to New York at the age of 17 in a bid to work in the theater.

He landed roles and even began some film work, but his start was slow and didn't lead to the fame he was hoping for. It wasn't until he appeared in Barry Levinson's “Diner” in 1982, followed by a starring role in the now-iconic “Footloose” in 1984, that he began to create a name for himself. However, due to the similarity of the roles, he also began to be typecast after this, something that he tried to fight against.

After a career slump, Kevin decided to switch up his approach from that of a leading man to a character actor. He appeared in films including “JFK,” “A Few Good Men,” “The River Wild,” “Apollo 13” and “Sleepers,” among others.

Meanwhile, Sedgwick, Kevin’s wife and Sosie’s mother is an accomplished actress in her own right. A native New Yorker, she was born on Aug. 19, 1965, and went on to study theater at college, but got her start on-screen in television shows and movies.

From the mid-'80s onwards, Sedgwick appeared in both minor and major roles in movies including “Something to Talk About,” “Born on the Fourth of July,” “Heart and Souls” and “Phenomenon.” In the last decade, she received acclaim for her role in the television show “The Closer,” for which she won a Golden Globe Award.

The couple loved working together as they've starred in numerous movies and shows together, such as “Pyrates, Murder in the First,” “The Woodsman” and “Loverboy.” That interest obviously extends to working with their children too, as Sosie has also acted in movies with her parents. But while it might seem like an obvious path to follow, it wasn't always the easy option.

According to IMDb, the 31-year-old has been credited in more than 30 significant films and TV shows. While Sosie has grown up to be an actress in her own right, her parents were not always supportive of her working in the same industry that they have been in for a collective 80+ years.

Contact Music reported in 2004 (when Sosie was 12 years old) that Kevin tried to dissuade his daughter from becoming an actress after he had cast her in his own film, 2005’s “Loverboy.”

Sosie had played the younger version of her mother's character in the movie. It makes sense that Sosie would be cast for the role, and her dad Kevin insisted “she did a fabulous job." But in the end, he did not encourage her to keep pursuing acting.

"I have my own feelings about child actors,” Kevin told the outlet. “I don't think kids should be working, and yet we need kids in movies. That being said, there was a great part for a 10-year-old girl that's supposed to be Kyra as a little girl, and I had to have my daughter do it.”

Sosie would then go on to work with her parents for the second time five years later in “The Closer,” an American television police procedural in which Sedgwick played the lead role while dad Kevin served in the director’s chair.

Since then, Sosie, 31, has succeeded in her acting career, embarking on a voyage of her own. But even though she has become independent, Sosie has spent a lot of time with her parents, specifically her father, Kevin, who posts their personal family stories on his Instagram account.

The two have also greeted each other on social media for special events in their lives, including their birthdays. On Father’s Day, Sosie posted a video of her and Kevin singing, along with photos of them together.

“Happy Father’s Day to the most silliest father of dragons, petting zoo owner daddy. I love you ever so much,” she said in the post

Kevin’s adoration and support for his daughter’s acting career have strengthened over time. Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, Kevin raved about his daughter, detailing how “very proud” he was of her in the film “Smile.”

Kevin and Sosie’s deep and hilarious relationship with each other can be seen throughout social media. In a video that Sosie posted on her Instagram account, she teased her father about her newly discovered method of eating a mango, while at the beach. Donning a green bikini top with black bike shorts and sandals, the actress looked to be thoroughly enjoying herself on the sand. She wrote:

“I know you love the criss cross cube method but have you ever tried 'cutting' a mango like THIS?!?” she wrote, tagging her father, who jokingly told her that she was a “showoff.”

While fans were laughing about their interaction, many noticed that Sosie had grown to look like “Flatliners” actress Julia Roberts, a dear friend of her father.

“Did anyone else think Sosie Bacon looked uncannily like a young Julia Roberts though?” a user asked on social media.

“Also Maya Hawke, Sosie Bacon, and young Julia Roberts aren't the same people either but I had to look that up,” another commented

"You look like Julia Roberts if she was a hippy,” someone wrote
