On the June 9, 2025, episode of “Live with Kelly and Mark,” Kelly Ripa revealed that she felt “super fit” just three days after switching to her husband Mark Consuelos’ diet. The talk show host said she decided to try Mark’s protein-heavy meal plan after struggling to zip up her dress for the 2025 Oscars.

Ripa and Mark, both 54, are not only TV co-hosts but also one of Hollywood’s most adored couples. They first met in 1995 during a screen test for the soap opera “All My Children,” where Mark was cast as Ripa’s love interest. Their on-screen chemistry translated into real-life romance, and they eloped on May 1, 1996, in a surprise Las Vegas wedding.

Since then, their love story has continued to flourish. The couple has three children: Michael Joseph Consuelos, born June 2, 1997; Lola Grace Consuelos, born June 16, 2001; and Joaquin Antonio Consuelos, born Feb. 24, 2003.

Despite busy careers and the demands of parenthood, Ripa and Mark have remained strong partners in both life and work. The couple also teamed up in the wellness department.

According to Ripa, the results of her husband’s diet were quick and impressive, giving her a noticeable boost in energy and confidence. Her rapid transformation after adopting Mark’s protein-focused diet suggests that the plan may be both effective and sustainable, as her results speak for themselves.

On “Live with Kelly and Mark,” Mark said the regimen was “the craze now.”

Ripa replied: “You put me on that!” and described her Oscars mishap.

“So right before the Academy Awards, I was having trouble getting my dress zipped up the side. It was a side‑zip, the dress, and I kept getting zipped into the dress. I don’t know if any women have experienced having your side skin sipped into your dress. It is a punishing thing… And you put me on a high, high protein diet,” she explained.

“It’s the only time I’ve listened to Mark about my diet because I typically don’t like to do what you’re doing,” she said, adding, “I just find, you’re like, way too disciplined. I can’t live that way. But for 72 hours, I can live like Mark Consuelos so I lived like Mark Consuelos for 72 hours.”

Results followed:

“I ate exactly like you told me to eat and that dress zipped right up, no side skin. ... And I looked super fit. Super, super fit. So thank you for that.”

Mark stressed that fiber was “really, really important,” and that it is “‘Recommended 25 grams of fiber per day for women, 38 grams for men.’ So it’s crucial for ‘maintaining a healthy gut microbiome and may lower the rates of chronic disease such as diabetes.’”

Ripa teased:

“You were there, you were managing my diet... I’m like, ‘I don’t know, I ate whatever you told me to eat.’ Literally, if he was like, ‘Eat this,’ I ate it. And it was great for the 72 hours I had to suffer through it. But they’re talking about daily life every day, if you’re having a high protein diet…”

Mark closed with the advice to “make sure you take your fiber,” prompting appreciative applause for their candid, relatable wellness banter on air.
