Kelly Osbourne Leaves LA After 30 Years & Her Reason for Moving Back to the UK With Her Son Is Deeply Personal

Kelly Osbourne spent nearly 30 years in Los Angeles. She arrived as a teenager when "The Osbournes" transformed her family into one of the most watched acts in reality television. She built a career there — television presenter, fashion commentator, designer, recording artist. She made friends there, made mistakes there, and made her way through some of the hardest years of her life there. And then she left.
"I've never been a California girl," Osbourne, born Oct. 27, 1984, told Hello! Magazine in an interview published August 31, 2026. "Being home in the U.K. has changed a lot for me. It's been great to be home, and making a life for me and my son where I can see he's truly happy." She added, in a phrase that landed more quietly than the others: "Happy is not the word, but I'm where I'm meant to be."
The move was shaped by several converging forces. Her father Ozzy Osbourne died on July 22, 2025, at the age of 76 — a loss that reconfigured everything. Her relationship with Sid Wilson, the Slipknot DJ and father of her 3-year-old son Sidney, ended. And the United States had stopped feeling safe in a way she could no longer ignore.
"I don't ever want to have to explain to my son what to do during a gun raid," she told Hello!, referring to the increase in gun violence in American schools. Sidney will attend the same Buckinghamshire preschool Kelly attended as a child — a detail that has given her joy she did not know she was missing.
"I've got my baby boy, and he makes me the happiest person in the world," she said.

The year leading up to the move had been one of the most publicly turbulent in Osbourne's adult life. In February 2026, she attended the BRIT Awards in Manchester — where her late father was posthumously honored with a lifetime achievement award — and faced a wave of online commentary about her appearance that she described as "disgusting" and "abusive." She responded with characteristic directness. "There is a special kind of cruelty in harming someone who is clearly going through something," she wrote on Instagram. "Kicking me while I'm down, doubting my pain, spreading my struggles as gossip, and turning your back when I need support and love most."
The UK, for Kelly, is the answer to that year. It is where she was born. It is where her mother Sharon Osbourne maintains a home. It is where the preschool of her childhood still stands in Buckinghamshire, and where Sidney is now enrolled. She described the process of settling in with the specific energy of someone who finally feels they have the right answer. "I'm getting back into my OCD mind and unpacking everything," she said, quoting "Annie": "I want this place to shine like the top of the Chrysler Building!"
Her father had expressed similar sentiments before his death. Sharon told Planet Rock in early 2025 that Ozzy was relocating to Britain in March of that year, excited to be reunited with his Black Sabbath brothers for their final show together. He died four months later, in July, surrounded by family, back in the country where he was born.
Kelly is home. Sidney is enrolled. The boxes are being unpacked. After nearly 30 years in Los Angeles, she is where she says she is meant to be.
