Kelly Clarkson Was The First And Undoubtedly The Greatest American Idol

From being broke and having to sleep in her car, Kelly Clarkson became the first-ever American Idol and also the most successful one to ever come out of the reality show.

Kelly Brianne Clarkson was born on April 24, 1982 in Fort Worth, Texas. She graduated from Burleson High School in 2000, where she was part of the school's choir. After graduation, she moved to Los Angeles to pursue a music career.

Before she got her big break, she was supporting herself with numerous odd jobs. She made a few television appearances and eventually landed a job working as a female vocalist with songwriter Gerry Goffin.

Unfortunately, her moving to LA didn't work out and she returned to Texas shortly thereafter. In 2002, a friend told her about a new talent search show on Fox which she signed up for and became one of 10,000 contestants.

To understand why Kelly Clarkson is the greatest American Idol winner ever, we have to start from the beginning: her audition all the way back in season 1 to her success story since then.

Since stepping into the spotlight, the 37-year-old singer has broken chart records, sold out in stadiums, and became a coach on The Voice. During her four seasons on the hit NBC series, she has had three contestants win the season.

More recently, she got her own talk show, The Kelly Clarkson Showsomething no other American Idol winner or contestant has achieved. Pretty impressive for somebody who was once broke and sleeping in her car.
