For decades, Reba McEntire has been a favourite among country music fans. This amazing woman has revolutionized the industry, providing us with great songs, a fantastic personality, and even a sitcom named after herself.

December 2 was a night devoted to honouring Reba and shining a light on her many accomplishments at the 41st Annual Kennedy Center Honors.

While Reba wasn’t the only one who received a spotlight for her successes, she was in good company as Cher, Wayne Shorter, Phillip Glass, and the “Hamilton” creators all received praise for their work.

In the midst of the ceremony, Kelly Clarkson took to the stage to perform her own ode to Reba. Clarkson took the opportunity to reintroduce the world to Reba’s popular song “Fancy”.

Pouring her soul out into the song, Clarkson drew the attention of the entire crowd with her powerful voice. In the background, Reba could be seen amongst the listeners, smiling and clapping as she watched the performance.

Kelly didn’t just perform – she also offered some very touching words. She publicly explained the appreciation she has had for Reba over the years, thanking Reba for allowing her to vent about her experiences in the music industry.

Kelly explained that Reba had been the one to step up as a friend and had comforted her when she was crying about her problems. On top of that, Kelly also called Reba out for being a fantastic grandmother to Kelly’s kids.

That’s right – Kelly isn’t just a Reba fan and a dear friend, she is also Reba’s daughter-in-law. Kelly is married to Reba’s own step-son, Brandon.

Over the years, Kelly and Reba have developed a strong friendship and a working relationship. They have performed several songs and even shared a stage during a North American tour.

While it’s always been easy to see that Kelly and Reba were tightly devoted to each other, it was fantastic to watch the younger woman get to openly tell the world about her love for her mother-in-law.
