Kelly Clarkson On Botox — Says She's Accepting 'Every Wrinkle In The World'

Kelly Clarkson is an American singer, songwriter, and television personality. She has her own daytime talk show, "The Kelly Clarkson Show," where she features segments about "everyday people," as well as celebrity guests and musical performances. Clarkson is best known for winning the first season of the competition series "American Idol."

Clarkson is a very well-decorated singer in her own right. She is the first artist in history to top each of Billboard's pop, adult contemporary, adult pop, country, and dance charts. She has had 11 top-ten singles in the US and nine in Canada, Australia and the UK. Clarkson has also sold over 25 million albums and 45 million singles worldwide.

In 2012, Clarkson began dating her former manager's son, and Reba McEntire's former stepson, Brandon Blackstock. The couple was married on October 20, 2013, at Blackberry Farm in Walland, Tennessee. Since their marriage, Brandon has been acting as Clarkson's manager. The couple also has a daughter, born in 2014, and a son, born in 2016.

In June of 2020, Clarkson filed for divorce from Blackstock, and it was finalized in September of that same year. In November of 2020, it was revealed that Clarkson won primary custody of both of their children, according to court documents obtained by USA Today.

These days, Clarkson is doing well and is focused on her music career and talk show. She sat down with actor Mayim Bialik on her podcast, "Mayim Bialik's Breakdown," in June, 2021 to share some details on her divorce and to get personal about topics like cosmetic surgery.

Clarkson doesn't judge anyone who chooses to get cosmetic procedures done; she just says they're not for her. "I'm gonna look like a total Shar-Pei, like a dog. I'm gonna have every wrinkle in the world on my face," she said. "It has nothing to do with me being better than somebody that gets (work done on) their face. I'm afraid of stuff called botulinum toxin," Clarkson shared with Bialik on her podcast.

Botulinum toxin is a neurotoxic protein produced by bacteria. The toxins are what causes the disease botulism and are commonly used for commercial and cosmetic purposes. Botulinum toxins are the most poisonous proteins known to man, reports FEBS Press.

Clarkson shared that in the future, she hopes that she can be accepted for just being herself. "I hope I'm still having my talk show and I hope people see this is what it looks like, this is how you look when you get older; it's fine," the artist told Bialik.

Clarkson's series "The Kelly Clarkson Show" released this statement in a press release explaining the concept behind the program: "In her new daytime talk show, Kelly Clarkson uses her gift of connection to bring viewers something new: a fun, energetic show that breaks with tradition."

The press release continues, "In each episode audiences will experience an hour full of remarkable stories, celebrity guests, spontaneous surprises, humor, heart and, of course, good music. It's like a weekday brunch party with a fascinating guest list of people who would otherwise never meet." Clarkson excels as the host of the show and we wish her many more seasons.

Clarkson has had a triumphant career, but it has also come with its own set of difficulties. "Everybody would always try to micromanage everything and try to get you to be something that you're not. That's been the hardest challenge," she said during Bialik's podcast

The singer uses her own appearance as an example. "No manager would ever want me to do this. I have no makeup on and my hair in (braids). I'm comfortable and I was potting plants and doing gardening stuff and I had the morning off so I didn't want to have to get (all glammed up)," Clarkson explained.

Now, this doesn't mean she never likes to get dolled up. Clarkson elaborates, "I like doing it for work because I think it's fun, it's like dress-up when you're a kid," she said. "But in my everyday life, nah, I'm not gonna get dressed up to go to Target or hang out with my friends. I'm gonna do what I want to do at that moment."

Bialik also had the chance to speak with Clarkson about her recent divorce from Brandon Blackstock. It turns out the pandemic and lockdown had a profound effect on their family. "It was an extreme environment for everyone and that went into play in the decision," she said during the podcast.

Fortunately, Clarkson has found relief in confiding in a therapist during this challenging time in her life. The artist confessed, "I love talking to her because it's nice to have someone outside of your circle, outside of your life. And it's someone that you're just completely and totally honest about everything that maybe you shouldn't tell people."
