On Friday, June 19th on the Kelly Clarkson Show, Clarkson delivered an emotional cover of "I'd Rather Go Blind", popularized by Etta James in 1968. The song was performed in honor of Juneteenth, an annual black holiday to celebrate the end of slavery.

Fans of Clarkson know that the famed singer has recently filed for divorce from her husband of six years. According to several sources, Clarkson and her soon-to-be ex-husband Brandon Blackstock's marriage had been slowly breaking down for several months, only to be accelerated by spending time together in quarantine.

It's the emotions of the divorce, that likely led to the incredibly emotional performance that Clarkson gave. One fan said, "Honestly I feel her speaking through her music. I can't imagine why she's getting divorced. I feel so devastated for her but at the same time empowered too. She's amazing."

Although neither Clarkson nor Blackstock have commented publically on the situation, a source from Entertainment Tonight says that the two were trying to reconcile their differences before quarantine began. "Kelly and Brandon have been having problems for several months and were making a conscious effort to work things out," the source said. "The both hoped quarantining away from L.A. in Montana would help them work things out in their marriage, but instead the change in environment was actually detrimental."

Regardless of this sad news, fans can rejoice in the fact that Clarkson won't let the news affect her music negatively. In fact, it could just lead to a wide barrage of new, albeit emotional, music. Her song "Piece by Piece" is a very emotional song about her parent's divorce and strained relationship with her father, and has been sung live with tears during Clarkson's time on The Voice.
