Kelly Clarkson is a Grammy award winning singer, prolific songwriter, winner of American Idol, talk show host, and, most recently, a destroyer of Christmas. Of course, that last part is completely up for debate. Recently, the talented singer received some criticism for updating a classic Christmas hit entitled, "Baby, It's Cold Outside."

Clarkson, who changed the song's lyrics with fellow singer and performer John Legend, recently responded to the heat the duo received from fans and enemies alike. On her own TV show, "The Kelly Clarkson Show", Clarkson and Chrissy Teigen tackled the criticism. Teigen, Legend's wife, agreed with the host that the backlash was weird.

"Did you not hear that John (Legend) and I ruined Christmas recently?" Clarkson, 37, jokingly asked Teigen. "I was like, 'how did I mess that up?'"

Legend and Clarkson originally drew heated feedback after they updated the lyrics to the popular Christmas song. Lines such as "what's the sense in hurting my pride?" and "say, what's in this drink?" were swapped out for ones more friendly to the #MeToo movement.

Sharon Osbourne, wife of the famous Black Sabbath singer Ozzy Osbourne, was one of the more vocal critics calling the rendition "ridiculous". Clarkson explained the purpose behind the update on her show with Teigen explaining how over-the-top Sharon's reaction was. Teigen sarcastically said that Sharon seemed to think that Clarkson had burned the original songs in the backyard so that no one could ever listen to them again.

"Both John and I have actually cut 'Baby, It's Cold Outside,' the original, and we like the original, but we noticed a lot of people didn't," Clarkson explained. "We were like, 'let's just give them another option' or whatever, and apparently, we killed Christmas."

Teigen and Clarkson continued to joke about how people could get upset over a song that is "date rapey" and "creepy. At the same time, they admitted that the original song wasn't offensive to them. Deana, the daughter of Dean Martin, was another outspoken critic who called the new song "absolutely absurd".

She said that the original song was "a classic" and "perfect". She advised John Legend to write his own song instead of taking the thunder from her father and Frank Loesser.
