Kelly Clarkson first became a household name in 2002 following her win on the hit competition series "American Idol." Since then, the singer has gone on to sell millions of copies of her albums and tour across the world. Some of her most notable hits include "Since U Been Gone," "My Life Would Suck Without You," and "Because Of You." With an incredible vocal tone and range, Clarkson has easily become one of the best and most recognizable singers in the world.
Along with being a highly accomplished singer, Clarkson has also appeared in a variety of films and TV shows and has gone on to become one of the most beloved women in the entertainment industry due to her hilarious personality and charming wit. She has gone on to become a judge for another singing competition series called "The Voice," and is even the host of her own talk show, "The Kelly Clarkson Show."
When Clarkson first entered the music industry, she had a very girl-next-door look with a bit of an edge. Like most superstars, her look and style changed as the years progressed, and Clarkson discovered more sides of herself. She even switched up the genre of music she released during the span of her career.
During her time in the spotlight, many people have shared their opinions of Clarkson's appearance, but Clarkson has never let any mean comments bring her down. A beautiful woman inside and out, Clarkson shines on stage all glammed up just as much as she shines without wearing any makeup at all.

Over the years, Clarkson has wowed audiences all over the world with her amazing gifts as a singer and performer. While many people are used to seeing the star in beautiful expensive clothing and a full face of makeup, Clarkson has shown time and again that beauty comes from within.
Back in March 2020, Clarkson decided to honor musical hero Kenny Rogers, who had recently passed away at the time. With her hair in a ponytail and wearing a simple shirt and no makeup, Clarkson gave a small performance in the comfort of her own home. She covered the classic song "Sweet Music Man" and stunned fans with her natural beauty after posting the cover online to her Instagram account.
Combating industry standards is something that Clarkson has done for most of her career. Rather than look and act like the stereotypical cookie-cutter pop star, Clarkson has proven that she wants to be as authentic as possible in every way she can, whether it be through her sound or through her style.
The singer has also had some hardships in the more recent years as she went through a divorce with Brandon Blackstock and spent months trying to come to an agreement regarding the divorce settlement. Fortunately, their divorce was finally settled in March 2022, as PEOPLE reported that Clarkson will pay Blackstock a one-time payment of $1.3 million, as well as monthly child support payments of $45,601 for their two children. The former couple also agreed on having joint custody of their kids, although they will be living with Clarkson in her Los Angeles home.

Considering all that Clarkson has been through recently – divorce, thyroid issues and dealing with societal pressures – it's easy to see why Clarkson would want to find new ways to feel better. During her podcast interview with Mayim Bialik for "Breakdown," Clarkson showed off her more "comfortable" look, as per Yahoo. In the interview, Clarkson had her hair in pigtail braids and went makeup-free, explaining how she chose the look as a way to challenge herself.
"I think the biggest thing for me in my whole career is, just being me has been really hard," Clarkson said. "Like, no manager would ever want me to do this – I have no makeup on."
The talk show host explained how she had felt pressured to look a certain way in the past, especially as someone in Hollywood. "Everybody would always micromanage everything and try to get you to be somebody that you're not, and the hardest part has been being me," Clarkson said. "So I think that's been the hardest challenge, I guess I'd say, with mental health."
Clarkson has been in the public eye for 20 years now and has received plenty of criticism. However, she revealed that her biggest turning point over the years was finally realizing that "you can't please them all."
The singer also said that she has no plans to get any type of cosmetic procedure or plastic surgery and plans on aging naturally. "I'm gonna have every wrinkle in the world on my face," Clarkson said. She added, "I hope people see that this is what it looks like, this is how you look when you get older."
