Kelly Clarkson first became a household name in 2002 following her win on the hit competition series “American Idol.” Since then, the singer has gone on to sell millions of copies of her albums and tour across the world. Some of her most notable hits include “Since U Been Gone,” “My Life Would Suck Without You” and “Because Of You.”

With an incredible vocal tone and range, Clarkson has easily become one of the best and most recognizable singers in the world. Along with being a highly accomplished singer, Clarkson has also appeared in a variety of films and TV shows and has gone on to become one of the most beloved women in the entertainment industry due to her hilarious personality and charming wit. She went on to become a judge for another singing competition series called “The Voice,” and is even the host of her own talk show, “The Kelly Clarkson Show.”

Along with interviewing celebrities on her talk show, Clarkson has also made sure that she can still show the world how powerful a vocalist and singer she is. She has performed a handful of covers and duets with famous stars over the course of her show. Clarkson has also gone into more depth with the stars on her show to discuss their songwriting. Her talk show’s segment is called Songs and Stories, and it’s where both Clarkson and her guests delve deeper into the guests’ songs and what’s the inspiration behind them.

So when Kenneth Edmonds – better known as Babyface – made an appearance on the show in February 2023, he talked with Clarkson about the songs he wrote for the late Whitney Houston – and he and Clarkson gave the audience an unforgettable performance.

Clarkson has performed endless songs during the Kelloke segment of her talk show, “The Kelly Clarkson Show.” She has even had the fortune of performing duets with some of music’s brightest stars. She once performed "9 to 5" with Dolly Parton during the country singer's visit to the talk show.

video showed how the iconic duet came to be. Clarkson had previously recorded a new version of "9 to 5," but Parton's version was too legendary not to perform. So, the pair decided to blend the old and new versions together, making for one unforgettable performance. Even Clarkson couldn't contain her excitement over singing with Parton!

When Michael Bolton was a guest on “The Kelly Clarkson Show,” he expressed his interest in collaborating with Clarkson. “There is one artist in particular I would really love to sing with,” Bolton said before pointing at Clarkson.

Clarkson instantly melted and tried to brush off her fangirling moment. “You’re full of it. You’re on my show. They made you say it,” she said. The singer added that she would duet with Bolton in that instant, though, and Bolton happily accepted.

Almost naturally, the two broke out into song together with one of Bolton’s most recognizable tracks – so recognizable, in fact, that Clarkson knew what it was just from the first note. Together, the vocal powerhouses performed an impromptu take of “How Am I Supposed to Live Without You.”

Clarkson also sang “What About Us” with P!nk during her visit to the talk show in February 2023. Another star that visited Clarkson during this time was Babyface, who is known for being a singer, songwriter and record producer.

Clarkson and Babyface spoke about some of the iconic songs he’s written over the years during the Songs and Stories segment. Babyface talked about how he wrote and produced “Exhale (Shoop Shoop),” which was performed by Whitney Houston in the 1995 film “Waiting to Exhale.” The film also featured Angela Bassett.

Babyface was in charge of creating the entire score for the movie. Director Forest Whitaker originally recruited Quincy Jones for the job, but Jones said Babyface would be a better fit. Another famous song from the film was “Not Gon’ Cry” by Mary J. Blige, which Clarkson and Babyface performed together earlier on Clarkson’s talk show.

Speaking more about “Exhale (Shoop Shoop),” Babyface said Houston had been unsure if she would sing on the film’s soundtrack, but he helped change her mind. He shared:

“So, I’d start doing the ‘Shoop, shoop’ and when I finished it, I said, ‘I don’t have this part yet, but, ‘Shoop, shoop.’ Then she said, ‘Babyface, you done finally ran out of words.’ … But it felt so good ultimately that I was like, ‘Why change it?’”

Babyface and Clarkson proved that the song still holds up today as they sang together while Babyface played the piano. Fans were mesmerized by their performance.

“I love these duets she’s doing with the guest that are musical artists that she’s been having on her show!! She can duet with anybody any genre male female she’s the BEST of the BEST!!!” one person commented.

Another person called Babyface a “legend,” while another fan commented, “Kelly and Babyface need to do an album together as well!!”

It’s safe to say that Clarkson’s fans can’t get enough of the singer’s talent and memorable performances.
