Kelly Clarkson And Ariana Grande Team Up For New Christmas Track

Kelly Clarkson and Ariana Grande have been spending plenty of time working together on Season 21 of the hit competition show “The Voice.” Their great banter and incredible vocal showcases have already been on full display on the show, and they’ve continued to give their fans even more amazing gifts as the year goes on. Their newest present for their fans is a duet holiday song titled “Santa, Can’t You Hear Me.”

Clarkson and Grande have both released a handful of holiday songs and duets in the past, giving them ample practice and preparation for their current iconic pairing in “Santa, Can’t You Hear Me.” They have also previously worked together in the music industry, performing a duet of “Respect” by Aretha Franklin on the opening night of the current season of “The Voice.” 

Fans were blown away by how stunning their voices sounded together and how they played off one another. If that wasn’t enough, fans have since been able to watch the women’s friendship blossom as the singing competition progresses. Now, they have another reason to celebrate thanks to Clarkson and Grande.

It’s evident that both Clarkson and Grande are leading women in the world of current pop music and are known for their powerhouse vocal stylings. They both have an incredible range and beautiful tones, making their duet even more thrilling to listen to. While they are both strong on their own, the gentle power of Grande’s voice mixed with Clarkson’s slightly raspy vocals makes for one holiday song that is sure to be played on repeat this holiday season.

Both Clarkson and Grande have shown that they were made to release holiday albums, including both classics and fan favorites as well as several original songs. Clarkson’s first holiday album, “Wrapped in Red,” was released in October 2013. It was full of classic Christmas songs as well as plenty of original songs, including the hit “Underneath the Tree.” The album also featured a duet with country singer Ronnie Dunn and a beautiful rendition of “Silent Night” alongside country artists Reba McEntire and Trisha Yearwood.

Grande is no stranger to the world of holiday music either, having previously released two EPs titled “Christmas Kisses” and “Christmas & Chill.” Her most popular holiday track to date is “Santa Tell Me,” which was originally released in November 2014. Grande has shown an immense amount of love for these extended plays, even performing a medley of “Santa Tell Me” and songs from “Christmas & Chill” during the last leg of the Sweetener World Tour in 2019. 

The talented artist has also worked on a handful of collaborations during her career, including songs in the mainstream pop world and in the holiday music scene. Some of her most recent collaborations include “Stuck With U” with Justin Bieber, “Rain On Me” with Lady Gaga and a remix of “Save Your Tears” with The Weeknd. Grande was also featured on a remix of Mariah Carey’s 2010 holiday song “Oh Santa!” in December 2020 alongside Jennifer Hudson. In October 2021, fans of Clarkson and Grande were given one of the best presents they could have asked for in the form of a song.

A New Song For The Season

On Sept. 23, 2021, Clarkson released “Christmas Isn’t Canceled (Just You),” the lead single off her second holiday album titled “When Christmas Comes Around…TODAY reported that Clarkson had been teasing the album since September, with her fans excitedly counting down the days to receiving their early Christmas present. 

The album was released on Oct. 15, 2021, finally giving fans the music they had been waiting for. Clarkson shared a sweet message with her fans on Instagram about what the project meant to her. “‘When Christmas Comes Around…’ captures how different the holidays can be for all of us during the varying stages of our lives, and I hope everyone can find something on the record they relate to,” she said. “Hopefully the happier songs, but if not, hey … you’re not alone!”

Music fans have already been able to witness Grande and Clarkson’s sweet friendship on Season 21 of “The Voice” and are now able to hear their stunning voices mesh together on their song “Santa, Can’t You Hear Me.” On Oct. 15, 2021, Grande tweeted, “‘Santa can’t you hear me’ is out now! Thank you so much @kellyclarkson for inviting me to be a part.”

The duet perfectly showcased both singers’ voices as Clarkson and Grande took turns singing lines in the verses before teaming up to take on the melodic chorus. The sweetness of Grande’s voice mixed with the slight raspiness of Clarkson’s complemented each other throughout the fun track. It’s clear that “Santa, Can’t You Hear Me” will go down in history as another great holiday song.
