She is known for starring in popular movies such as Batman Forever or The Hours and TV series like Big Little Lies. He is known for his smooth voice and great country hits. Kidman and Urban, both 56, first met in January 2005 at the G'Day LA event. This event, hosted by the Australian Consul General in LA, was meant to promote Australian culture and appreciation in the US, and Kidman and Urban were two celebrities supporting the cause. Kidman was born to Australian parents in Hawaii and moved back to Australia after living the first four years of her life in the US. Urban was born in New Zealand but grew up in Australia as well.

Their meeting in 2005 was the start of a whirlwind romance that led to their engagement a mere seven months later.

In June 2006, the couple was married at the Cardinal Cerretti Memorial Chapel in Sydney, only a short year after their first meeting.

In a 2015 interview with the Telegraph, Kidman reveals that they "[...] didn't really know each other – we got to know each other during our marriage." She went on to add: “I think meeting at a certain age makes a difference. And I trust my gut instinct. From the first minute I met him, there was a feeling of, Ahhh OK, somehow I’ve met home. And he had the same feeling. That was all we had but that was the essence of what we worked from.”

The flash romance start of their relationship didn't hurt their marriage, though. Urban and Kidman stayed together through Kidman's career declining and then picking up again, as well as Urban's struggles with drug rehab and treatment

In an interview with You, Kidman admitted she had given up any hopes of having children with Urban. So when she found out she was pregnant at age 40, she was overjoyed. She called it "a miracle." Recalling childbirth, she said, "I was like, 'Your only job, Keith, is to get me the epidural if I scream for it.' And I screamed for it. I was doing OK, and then I went, 'Oh boy!'"

In July 2008, the couple's first daughter, Sunday Rose Kidman Urban, was born in Nashville. Urban took to his website to announce the exciting news, writing: "Earlier this morning Nic gave birth to our beautiful baby girl, Sunday Rose Kidman Urban. We want to thank everybody that has kept us in their thoughts and prayers. We feel very blessed and grateful that we can share this joy with all of you today."

Over the next two years, the happy family continued to grow closer together. In 2010, the news of another arrival astounded Kidman's and Urban's fans worldwide. Their second daughter, Faith Margaret Kidman Urban, was born via surrogacy. The announcement came as a surprise, as the couple kept plans of having another child away from the public.

Kidman and Urban announced the arrival of their second daughter shortly after the 2010 Golden Globe Awards, releasing the following statement:

"Our family is truly blessed, and just so thankful, to have been given the gift of baby Faith Margaret. No words can adequately convey the incredible gratitude that we feel for everyone who was so supportive throughout this process, in particular our gestational carrier."

Kidman already had experience as a mother from her previous marriage to Tom Cruise and their two children, Isabelle Jane Cruise and Connor Antony Cruise. On the other hand, Urban was a first-time parent and had no experience raising girls at all. In an ABC News interview, he confessed: "It's an incredible feeling. And having girls -- I love having girls. You know, I come from a family with no sisters, one brother. So, it's been quite the learning curve in a really good way."

He also said that he was extremely grateful to Kidman and her work as a mother since he had no previous experience raising kids.

The couple takes great care to make sure their daughters, now 14 and 11 years old, don't grow up surrounded by the fame and media attention their parents' careers cause.

"We have a real life in the sense that we do the most normal things as a family, and we don't live on social media all the time. We don't read tabloids… we don't give it any attention," Urban explained to ABC News

The experience caused Urban to reflect on his own experience of moving to Australia as a 2-year-old. Speaking of his parents, he said: "They were keeping it together really well, considering… starting a completely brand new life in a foreign country, which Australia was to them."

"They didn't know anybody. They didn't have any support. They didn't have any money. They just did it… I'm just really impressed at what they were able to accomplish, the two of them," Urban added.

In an interview with Vanity Fair, Kidman also mentions that some of her parenting decisions might make her unpopular with many modern parents. She explains: "They don’t have a phone and I don’t allow them to have an Instagram. I try to keep some sort of boundaries."

And ever with their busy work schedule as international superstars, the doting parents insist their daughters are always their number one priority. In that same interview, Kidman revealed that she and her husband are involved parents, a feat that can prove to be extremely difficult for jet-setting celebrities. They've come up with creative ways for having their children around them as much as possible, having them –and at times, their tutor–join world tours and movie sets. Additionally, the actor flies home as much as possible – even when in the midst of an intense shoot.

While an avid Instagrammer herself, Kidman had made the conscious decision to keep her daughters out of her own account. "They will speak and that’s their prerogative in their lives," she told You. "And I do believe in respecting people’s privacy in a culture that has a voracious appetite now for oversharing."

Strict rules and a constant presence aside, the essential key to Urban and Kidman's success as parents is teamwork. Speaking to IHeartRadio last year, Urban praised his wife for her exemplary parenting skills.

"She's an extraordinary mum, she really, really is," he said. "Those girls are very, very lucky, and I feel very lucky that the children I should have in this world happen to be with Nic. I don't know anything about raising kids and Nic does, and that comes in extremely, um, it's really made for an experience I wouldn't have had without that. Her patience, her recognizing them as people and not just little kids is really extraordinary. Her attention to honoring their feelings and listening to them right from day one – really being attentive to that is not how I was raised at all, so it's really beautiful to see."

Kidman, on the other hand, says her husband is her "rock." In an interview with Today in 2014, the actor admitted that she finds the most comfort when leaning on Urban when times get dark.

“I’m lucky to have a rock of a husband and a strong faith. I have both those things," she said. "Keith and my dad… good men. Choosing to protect his family and take care of himself, but take care of his daughters, and walk the walk, if that makes sense. Not just talk the talk."

Their parenting seems to be working, though. Little Sunday Rose and Faith Margaret have grown from tiny tots to cute girls that clearly love their parents as much as they love them. As for what the future holds for them? Only time can tell but, it looks like Sunday Rose has some big plans. In a 2019 speech at the Elle Woman of the Year event, Kidman praised her daughter for her impressive aspirations.

"She said, 'I want to be a director and I'm pretty sure I can make that happen,'" Kidman told the crowd. "That there is progress, because for that little girl to be able to say, 'Yeah, I can be a director.' I would never have said that. I said I could be an actress, but I never said director."

"[Sunday] said, 'I want to be a director and I'm pretty sure I can make that happen,'" the doting mom told the crowd. "That there is progress, because for that little girl to be able to say, 'Yeah, I can be a director.' I would never have said that. I said I could be an actress, but I never said director."

Only time can tell whether Sunday Rose ever makes her dream a reality. For now, all we can say for sure is that Urban and Kidman's down-to-earth style will definitely serve their daughters well later in life.
