The 54th Annual ACM Awards were filled with epic moments for viewers. One of the biggest moments of the night came from none other than the legendary Keith Urban.

He and his wife, Nicole Kidman, made waves before the show began. They walked the red carpet together, obviously more in love than ever. Their smiles and excitement hinted at the amazing performance yet to come.

Earlier, Keith had let fans know that they should watch the show. He revealed on Instagram that he was planning something different and special. He said that he'd be performing something he's never done before but that he'd wanted to.

It was a song that spoke to him.

When the time came for him to take the stage, he didn't disappoint. He covered Irish songwriter Foy Vance's "Burden." The song, with its slower tempo and heavy piano, might seem like a strange choice for Urban, who's well-known for his upbeat guitar-based music.

Once the performance started, it seemed like a perfect choice.

Keith began by himself on a darkened stage, with his face standing out as he sang. Gradually, a circle of lights brightened around him, revealing him and his band. Though the song was a cover, he managed to make it entirely his own.

The intense, moving performance entranced the entire audience. They stayed in silent awe until he finished, and then deafening applause broke out.

Is it any surprise that Keith Urban also took home the award for Entertainer of the Year? He more than proved himself worthy.
