Kelly certainly did not disappoint when she took the stage again on American Idol in its 15th and final season in 2016. Her heartwarming song left the judges and audience with tears in their eyes. This previous winner had no problem getting up on the stage and singing her heart out, even though she was pregnant at the time.

The emotional song touched the judges as they sat in front of her. You could clearly see their emotions when the camera pans to them. One judge wasn’t even able to hold back his tears. That is just how good this performance was! Even Keith Urban wasn’t able to hide the fact that her singing was making a major impact on his heart. You could see it in his face and by the tears on his cheeks as she sang her heart out.

Kelly Clarkson sang “Piece By Piece,” a song that she co-wrote with Greg Kurstin. She was able to perform it in a way that truly made you feel as though you knew exactly how she was feeling at the moment. It was written from a personal experience of hers which made it all the more touching. To see Kelly return back to the American Idol stage to perform was something we are glad we didn’t miss.

You’ll be shocked at what happens just a couple of minutes after the song starts. It took everyone, even Kelly, by surprise. She even had to apologize to the audience for the reaction she had while she was singing. She had tears in her eyes that caused her to pause for a few seconds. However, the audience was mesmerized. The audience loved her singing and showed it by chanting her name over and over when she was finished. She impressed everyone who was there to listen to her that day- the judges, live audience, and the audience at home. The judges even gave her a standing ovation when she was done - that is how emotional the song was.

Speaking of the performance in an interview with Entertainment Tonight, Keith said " [She's] just a phenomenal singer." He also addressed his tearful reaction, "The song, it's insane. I figure you're either crying at this performance or you need to check your pulse," and added, "It's an amazing song."

"Piece by Piece" was about Kelly's father abandoning her when she was a child, which is quite an emotional topic. After her performance, Kelly told Ryan Seacrest "I actually wrote it [the song] pregnant with my little girl and now I'm pregnant with my little boy. So if I don't make it through and I start crying, just laugh. It'll make me feel better."

"I was starting to wonder if maybe I was [pregnant] too," Keith responded, pointing to his emotional response to hearing Kelly sing this powerful song.

Kelly Clarkson's gained fame through American Idol by becoming the first winner ever of the show in 2002. According to AllMusic, Kelly grew up in Burleson, Texas, and graduated high school in 2000. She opted to pursue a singing career rather than attend college and moved to Los Angeles to make a name. Before entering the American Idol competition in 2002, she worked various odd jobs to support herself, including working at a movie theatre and as a cocktail waitress.

She beat out 10,000 other aspiring singers that wanted to audition for the first season of American Idol and became a breakthrough star not only because of her singing but also her down-to-earth charm and excellent sense of humor.

She is quite easily one of the most well-known winners of the show and also the most successful in many ways. She has won 3 Grammy awards for her music, has sold millions of records, and has essentially remained a household name for many years. It was only fitting that she returned to American Idol's final season to not only honor the show but also honor her journey of going from virtually unknown to one of the best pop stars of today thanks to the opportunities she gained from the show.
