Keep Love Alive - 7 Sweet Everyday Texts For Your Long-Term Partner

Jun 02, 2018 by apost team

Love is an amazing thing. It has the power to withstand the test of time and comes in so many different forms. The intense, heart-fluttering passion of a new crush slowly grows into the calm, rock-hard steadiness needed for a long-term relationship.

And yet, it's important to keep a little passion in the relationship, no matter how many years you've been together. A few minutes of blushing and stammering can go a long way in strengthening your feelings for your partner. Plus, there's nothing quite like a sweet reminder of the all the reasons you feel in love in the first place.

With technology having such a place in our life, text messages are a simple, but effective way to boost your partner's mood. With help from some romance experts, here are seven short and sweet texts to brighten your loved one's day.

1. "Did I tell you how much I love you today?"

Resident expert and blogger Ingrid at Madison Avenue recommends this text for being sweet without being gushy and short enough that even crazy-busy partners can enjoy it. It's a great reminder that you love your S.O. today just like you love them every other day you are together.

2. "You had me at Netflix"

Ingrid's twist on a classic quote is a fun way to address how Netflix enables many couples to bond over shows and movies. It's a great way to say that you want to spend some time together, even if you're just watching movies and relaxing with each other.

3. "Babe - you make me happy :)"

Another short, sweet, and to-the-point text that is perfect for busy S.O.s in the middle of a work day. Alexis Sclamberg from Doppler's Social App recommends emojis as a cute method to inject tone and emotion into a text, so people can imagine their partners' faces and voices and feel as though they are in the same room.

4. "You're so cute"

Alternatively 'that's so cute,' depending on the context. Calling your partner cute might feel a little sappy, but it does wonders for their self-esteem. Relationship counselor Jonathan Bennett says that calling your S.O. cute shows them that you accept their quirks and unique personality traits - and that you love them for being exactly who they are.

5. "I'm in love with you"

Believe it or not, but that word 'in' is important to this one. As a society, we're used to affirming our love for a bunch of things - family, friends, dogs, coffee, etc. Bennett says that saying we are IN love with our partners confirms that our relationship with them is special and unique.

6. "You looked amazing last night"

While 'You're beautiful,' is a lovely text to get, romance expert Michelle Archard recommends more specific texts like 'You looked amazing in that [outfit] last night. I was so proud to be with you.' Tying your texts to specific moments or events really shows that you paid attention to your partner.

7. "You were great, thank you"

The phrasing of this text might change depending on the situation, but the spirit remains the same. Archard also recommends tying this message to a specific event, whether your partner seamlessly tucked the kids into bed after bath time or the two of you spent the night in bed together. No matter what, acknowledging that your partner did something well acts as a great mood booster and source of reassurance for them.

Life is busy for any couple, and work, family, and other commitments can make it even more complicated. In the face of all the chaos, it's easy for people to feel as though their relationship isn't as strong, but getting in the habit of sending little texts like these can help you feel more assured of your love, even when times get rough.

Lets spread the love and pass this on to all of your friends and loved ones so that they can spread the love too!
