That was very much the case when the pair attended the 2026 MOCA Gala in Los Angeles, where they spoke with PEOPLE about the causes that continue to matter most to them. For Grant, the Museum of Contemporary Art holds particular significance. It was the site of her first solo museum exhibition, making the institution far more than just another stop on the social calendar.

“We are here to support MOCA because we love this museum,” Grant explained, adding that she hopes the organization continues to have “a rich and really culturally significant future.”

The evening also highlighted something that has long connected the couple: a shared commitment to supporting artists. Grant and Reeves first crossed paths professionally through the book “Ode to Happiness,” which Reeves wrote and Grant illustrated. Their creative partnership eventually expanded into co-founding a publishing house before their relationship became public in 2019.

At the gala, both emphasized how important it is to champion not only their own work but the broader artistic community around them. Reeves noted that one of his favorite parts of the event is seeing artists and the people who help make their work possible gathered in one place.

For a couple whose relationship has largely unfolded away from public attention, their appearances together continue to reflect the same priorities that brought them together in the first place: creativity, collaboration, and a genuine appreciation for the arts.

Just days before attending the gala, Grant offered another glimpse into what makes her relationship with Reeves work. Speaking with PEOPLE at the launch of her wine brand, LOVE Wine, L.A., she reflected on the challenge of balancing two careers that often require intense focus and long stretches of creative immersion.

According to Grant, the answer is surprisingly simple: “The key” is “the mutual respect,” she said.

That respect extends to every aspect of their professional lives. Reeves may be known globally for iconic roles like John Wick and Neo, but Grant understands the commitment required to disappear into a project. Having spent years alongside him during different productions, she has learned to recognize when work needs space to breathe.

“I’ve lived with John Wick, I’ve lived with Neo,” she joked, before explaining that she respects the process behind those transformations. “When he’s in a character, for example, I have so much respect for that understanding that this is the middle to the end of a project.”

The same courtesy runs both ways. Grant described painting as a process that demands complete focus, saying, “When I’m in painter mode, I am in it. I’m fully in it.”

Their comments painted a picture of a relationship grounded in admiration for each other’s passions rather than competition for attention. That foundation may also explain why their partnership has remained remarkably steady despite the pressures that often come with public life.

As the conversation turned toward whether their relationship had influenced their creative work, Grant admitted that the answer was yes. Looking back on the years they have spent together, she said she could see the difference reflected in her art.

“I would definitely say that my paintings become happier,” she said. “It’s undeniable. I have to admit that.” Reeves was then asked whether he agreed with the suggestion that Grant is an easy woman to love. His answer came immediately: “Yes!”
