Late shows are supposed to be full of positivity, light conversations, and hilarious antics. Viewers want to wind down after a stressful day at work with a little humor and optimism. But sometimes, talks between the host and interviewee can get very deep.

There are some moments on late shows that have the ability to disrupt this common format and provide viewers with something substantial. Keanu Reeves, the actor who played Neo in "The Matrix" movies, was asked to make an appearance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert to promote his upcoming movie.

Reeves was excited for the opportunity to meet host Stephen Colbert again and talk about his exciting projects. However, nobody expected the actor to say something so thought-provoking and profound. He found a way to answer the most challenging question of all time. His answer even left Stephen Colbert speechless for a few seconds, which is a rarity for the host.

The actor and host were bantering on yesterday's show about the upcoming "Bill & Ted Face the Music," the third movie in the popular franchise. Reeves mentioned that it's going to be about the duo attempting to write a song that would save the whole universe. Reeves continued to explain that the universe would end if the pair fail to write a fantastic song.

Colbert continues the banter and introduces existentialism by asking Reeves about death. Although the host was expecting another light or witty response, Reeves provided a rather inspiring statement. Colbert posited, "What do you think happens after we die, Keanu Reeves?"

After the audience laughed at the unexpected question, Reeves paused for a moment and then provided his answer. The response captivated the minds and hearts of the audience and even managed to leave Colbert speechless for a full ten seconds.

"I know that the ones who love us will miss us."

After a few moments of silence, the audence let out a collective "aww", and Colbert mouthed the word "wow" in reaction to the thoughtful answer. The grateful host leaned over and shook the actor's hand.

The response has since gone viral on Twitter.
