Keanu Reeves' Kindness Is His Most Celebrated Trait — Fan Reveals Their Touching Story About Actor

Actor Keanu Reeves is one of Hollywood’s finest men – and he’s also one of Hollywood’s nicest. On top of having a reputation for being so kind, Reeves is also a bonafide action star whose filmography speaks for itself. Some of his most well-known works include the “John Wick” and “The Matrix” franchises, as well as plenty of films in a variety of genres such as romantic comedies, dramas and thrillers.

There are plenty of examples out there that show just why Reeves is considered such a nice guy. From the time that he gave up his seat on the subway for a stranger and the various moments he’s shared with homeless people on the streets, listening to their stories, to the many donations he’s given to charities, Reeves is the epitome of a stand-up citizen. Reeves has also taken the time to show his cast and crew members on the films he’s been a part of just how much they mean to him, and how much he respects them and their time.

Reeves has been through plenty of hardships in his life, but has continuously bounced back and come back stronger than ever. He also has always left a great impression on those he interacts with, whether it be his longtime friendships with Sandra Bullock and Drew Barrymore, or his beautiful romantic relationship with his current partner Alexandra Grant.

Reeves has continued to have a great reputation in Hollywood and is still going out of his way to make the day of any fan, friend or stranger that comes his way.

Reeves has always been a likable and down-to-earth celebrity. He is also a constant reminder that actors and actresses don’t only exist in their bubble of fame. In fact, Reeves is a regular commuter on the New York subway system.

Back in 2011, one bystander happened to recognize the actor on the subway and captured footage that ended up going viral because of Reeves’ act of kindness. In the video, Reeves can be seen sitting in silence and dressed casually to fit in with the crowd. All of a sudden, the subway makes a scheduled stop, and a crowd of people enters the railcar. After the doors close, it’s clear that some people will have to stand due to the number of people and lack of seating.

Reeves notices a woman standing in front of him with a large duffel bag. She doesn’t have anywhere to sit, so Reeves offers her his seat. He quietly gets up and gets the woman’s attention, leading her to accept his offer. Reeves then proceeds to stand right in front of the bystander who has been filming the heartwarming moment.

In 2019, a video surfaced that showed him riding in a van with a group of strangers after their flight got canceled. He read a book of facts about the state they were driving through to pass the time. However, these weren’t the only times Reeves went out of his way to do something kind for someone else. 

On March 5, 2022, a Reddit user asked, “What’s something a famous person has done that just completely changed how you viewed them?” A user responded and shared a heartwarming story about just how amazing Reeves is.

The user said, “My grandmother had a crush on Keanu Reeves because he reminded her of my grandfather when he was young.” The Redditor explained how his grandmother had seen every single movie Reeves has starred in and found comfort in watching his films, especially after she had a stroke and was housebound and isolated.

The user continued, “Not too long after ‘The Matrix’ came out my uncle was in LA for business and was eating at a really swanky restaurant when Keanu came in with a woman. When he finished his meal my uncle came up to their table and said, ‘I don’t usually do this, but I just wanted you to know that my 80-year-old mother loves you and has seen all of your movies. You remind her of my dad.’”

After Reeves found out that the Redditor’s uncle had a cell phone on him, he said, “Give her a call, I want to talk to her.” He spoke with the women for several minutes. “She was so isolated and his genuine kindness to her and interest in her showed what a truly amazing man he is,” the Redditor said.

The Reddit post has since circulated around the world with plenty of people chiming in to praise Reeves for being such a stand-up man. One person commented, “There is virtually no positive story I would not instantly believe about Keanu Reeves. It’s been conditioned, after 20 years of just reading stories about random, wholesome acts of non-showy kindness.” Another user said, “Just when you think we’ve reached peak Keanu, he ascends even higher.”
