Keanu Reeves Is A Wise Tumbleweed In Upcoming Spongebob Squarepants Film

Keanu Reeves has shown his versatility over the years from tough action star in “Point Break” and the “John Wick” films, to romantic leading men like in “The Lake House” and “A Walk In The Clouds.”

Now he has an upcoming role that is surely unlike any he has had before: he will be making an epic cameo as a wise tumbleweed in “The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge on the Run,” opening in 2020.

The trailer for the movie was just released and gives audiences an idea into what a “wise tumbleweed” is exactly. In the trailer, Spongebob and Patrick encounter him on their quest to find Spongebob’s missing snail Gary. A glowing tumbleweed rolls onto the screen and we see Keanu’s handsome face pictured within it.

The “sage sage” named “Sage” speaks to the two heroes on their journey and even notes that his name “works out pretty well” for what he’s made of. We know he is wise because he responds incredulously (in Keanu’s signature zen tone) when Patrick tells him that his name means toaster in Celtic.

Keanu has recently been having a very popular run recently as the “internet’s boyfriend,” starring in the rom-com “Always Be My Maybe,” and returning for a fourth “Matrix” film. He also stepped out on the red carpet with artist Alexandra Grant at the LACMA Art + Film Gala in Los Angeles, which was his first appearance with a date in decades according to Metro.
