The couple chose to announce her arrival via a statement made by UNICEF, for which they are both Goodwill Ambassadors.

"We are floating with love and wonder from the safe and healthy arrival of our daughter," read the statement UNICEF shared via their twitter account.  A photo of Perry and Bloom holding onto their tiny newborn's hand was attached. As a tribute to their daughter's name, singer Perry had a white daisy ornament on her thumb. The little bundle of joy, Daisy Dove, could only be seen from the side.

In their statement released via UNICEF, the happy couple went on to add:

“But we know we’re the lucky ones and not everyone can have a birthing experience as peaceful as ours. Communities around the world are still experiencing a shortage of healthcare workers and every 11 seconds a pregnant woman or newborn dies.
[...]
As UNICEF Goodwill Ambassadors, we know UNICEF is there, on the ground, doing whatever it takes to make sure every expecting mother has access to a trained health worker and access to quality healthcare."

Both Perry and Bloom have endorsed and donated to several charities and UNICEF endeavors over the years.

Their new daughter's name actually holds a special meaning for the happy couple. As reported by Daily Mail, Bloom first proposed to Perry on Valentine's Day back in 2019 by gifting her an ornate daisy engagement ring. And a recent song released by Perry from May this year featured the song Daisies, which hinted at the name choice as well. As the couple originally announced Perry's pregnancy via her music video for her new song Never Worn White back in March this year, fans were already on the lookout for new songs with more info about the addition to the family.

Originally, the couple wanted to get married before Daisy Dove arrived in their lives. As the Mirror reported, after the engagement last year, the first wedding date was set during winter back in 2019. This plan was then changed and a new date was chosen for the summer of this year. After careful deliberation, the couple decided to have their wedding in Japan. However, the recent pandemic situation made another change necessary and the pair canceled their wedding for the foreseeable future. As Perry put it in the Mirror interview:

“You can’t plan anymore in 2020 because those plans are always cancelled. We just want to deliver a healthy child. Everyone has to take life one week at a time right now.”

Thankfully, this plan worked out wonderfully!

Congratulations to the proud parents and welcome little Daisy Dove! We're wishing all the best for the happy family. Pass this story along to your friends and fellow Bloom or Perry fans to spread the good news!
