Katie Holmes Called A ‘Bag Lady’ Who ‘Looks Homeless’ In Outfit Deemed ‘Frumpy’ & ‘Hideous’

Actress Katie Holmes stepped out to run some errands in New York on Nov. 14, 2024, in an interesting ensemble that ended up causing a frenzy on social media. The actress was paying homage to the trend that skirts the border between high fashion and outdoor style when she was spotted in Brooklyn. Bundled up for the cold, the actress, 46, wore a white turtle neck and a patchwork bomber jacket from Marfa Stance. 

Though the reactions of social media users to the jacket were less than welcome, it is a limited edition item valued at a cool $1,545. The coat is not just considered fashionable but functional as well, since it is waterproof. Holmes completed the look with dark gray balloon jeans, casual dark loafers and a brown leather tote bag from Khaite, also a reputable brand. She also added a chic pair of shades to finish off the overall look.

Put together, the outfit encompassed all the best aspects of fall colors and earthy tones. With one hand in the pocket of her interesting jeans, she looked perfectly relaxed on her casual stroll as she was captured on video, which was then uploaded to Instagram. As with all celebrity outfit choices, not every look is a hit with the fans, and many netizens certainly had a lot to say about Holmes’ outfit. Celebrity photographer Elder Ordonez, who took the video and posted it on Instagram, captioned it:

“Katie Holmes ❤️❤️ as always, looked very beautiful while out for a walk, showcasing her style in Brooklyn New York this morning.”

However, while he complimented Holmes, many users didn’t seem impressed by the actress’ outfit. They instantly took to the comments to disparage the look, with one user writing:

“This is not stunning but frumpy I would not scrub floors in that attire.”

Another criticized how the entire look was put together, disagreeing entirely with the glowing caption.

“She looks homeless,” they said. 

Many agreed that the look was unflattering on the “Dawson’s Creek” actress, slamming her with comparisons to “a hot air balloon that popped.” Clearly, the outfit will not likely be up there among some of her best, with one user remarking:

“She looks like a bag lady. What on earth are those pants? They are hideous and unflattering.”

However, not even the worst outfit can detract from the actress’s undeniable beauty, making her the first celebrity face of the powerhouse beauty label Bobbi Brown. One user complimented her stunning features while simultaneously bashing her jeans.

“She is a beautiful woman but those pants are hideous,” they asserted.

Still, others had positive things to say about her outfit and style, with one X user gushing:

“She looks pretty 😍”

Another fashion observer complimented her limited edition jacket, writing:

“Love the Marfa Stance jacket😍”

One of Holmes’ latest projects has been with the Parisian brand A.P.C., for which she has been a loyal client since the 1990s. The collection centered around “very feminine pieces and a line of extremely refined accessories.” The brand described the collaboration as combining elements from the past two decades and making them relevant today.
