Kate Middleton Wears Tiara And Velvet Gown For Queen Elizabeth's Pre-Christmas Party At Buckingham Palace

With 1,000 guests in attendance, Duchess Kate Middleton dazzled at the annual Diplomatic Corps reception. The mom of three wore eye-catching jewelry and a slender black dress as met and chatted with ambassadors and government officials.

Kate sparkled in the Lover's Knot tiara which lit up her gown for the evening at Buckingham Palace. Also known as the Cambridge Lover's Knot Tiara, this crown is one of the most well-known tiaras of the British royal family mostly because of it being the late Princess Diana's favorite sparkler.

The tiara contains 19 archers, and 38 drop-shaped-pearls, 19 of which hang and 19 that stand upright but are able to be removed. According to People, in addition to the tiara, Kate wore a navy chic velvet dress by designer Alexander McQueen that helped accentuate her figure. The designer had also created Kate's wedding dress look. 

Looking like royalty, the duchess wore her hair in an updo while showing off diamond earrings and necklace that dripped that her neck. The Nizam of Hyderabad necklace was also worn by Kate five years ago in 2014.

The Queen bestowed Kate with a sash and medals that made nods to honors the duchess has received. Kate's husband, Prince William wore dress pants a tailcoat jacket and white tie. 

The Queen hosts the reception ever year as a pre-Christmas tradition. It is known that men wear tailcoats while women dress in long gowns as the party is held in mulitple rooms of the palace, reports People
