Every time Kate Middleton steps out for a royal engagement or to help those in need, she proves time and again that she is the epitome of grace and elegance and that she has a heart of gold. She is also highly adored and respected for her impeccable sense of style, her smarts and her kind demeanor. Being part of the royal family comes with a lot of greatness — not to mention fame — but also a lot of responsibilities. However, Kate has also shown that despite her title as Duchess of Cambridge, she is just as down-to-earth and personable as anyone else.
It’s no surprise that caring for others – especially the younger generation – is something incredibly important to Kate since she herself is a mother of three children: Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis. Since her marriage to Prince William in 2011, the Duchess of Cambridge has undertaken a long list of royal duties and responsibilities; she is even a patron to over 20 charitable and military organizations. Much of her charity work has continued to focus on issues surrounding young children.
On top of all of the wonderful attributes that Kate has shown time and again, she has also proven to be a great face for royalty. It’s clear that Kate loves being a member of the royal family and has even talked about what her favorite royal privilege is. While some people may think it’s all about the glitz and glam, the Duchess of Cambridge has consistently stayed true to her brand, showing that she genuinely cares for others.

Back in February 2020, Kate spoke with Giovanna Fletcher on the “Happy Mum, Happy Baby” podcast about some of her favorite perks and privileges are as an active member of the royal family. Kate does her part to carry out several royal duties by engaging in charitable organizations while also taking on new roles and responsibilities.
Her status gives her the opportunity to travel the world, meet new kinds of people everywhere she goes and have life-changing experiences. She has also made sure to use her platform for the betterment of others.
Knowing that someone is going through a similar experience as you might help you relate to that person even more. In fact, several other members of the royal family have spoken out about mental health over the years and have done their part to help others. According to US Weekly, Kate, William and Prince Harry teamed up together to launch Heads Together, an initiative that aims to tackle the stigma surrounding mental health in the United Kingdom.
“It was Catherine who first realized that all three of us were working on mental health in our individual areas of focus,” William said in 2017. “She had seen that at the core of adult issues like addiction and family breakdown, unresolved childhood mental health issues were often part of the problem.”
According to US Weekly, Meghan Markle joined the initiative after she married Harry in 2018. The Cambridge family and Sussex family teamed up again to launch a text messaging helpline the following year.

Continuing To Help Others

For the Duchess of Cambridge, being a people person is what really makes her heart soar. “One of the privileges of being in the family and having the job that I do is that you end up meeting a lot of people,” she told Fletcher, according to Express. “Talking to a lot of people from all walks of life.”
While some people may think that a royal family member couldn’t relate to their hardships, Kate has said otherwise. She has even encouraged others to put themselves in someone else’s shoes. Kate said:
“I feel like I know the things sometimes that people are struggling with. I think we are all so focused on our own environment and our own world that sometimes it is good to take a look outside of that and see the things lots of other people in society are struggling with, the same things and how everybody can pull together to try and do the best they can.”
According to Express, Kate launched the Five Big Questions campaign, which surveyed people about their thoughts and ideas about how the royal family can do its part to give back and help families raise their young children. “Parents, families and carers are at the heart of raising the next generation, and that’s why I feel so passionate about listening to them and listening to your thoughts and your views, and how best we can support you going forward,” the Duchess of Cambridge said.
Kate later said that this survey was “just the beginning,” thanking those who participated as they continue to embark on a journey together.
