Kate Middleton Shares A Peek Inside Her Book A Day After Meghan Markle Unveiled Her Own

Who doesn’t love some girl power? Two duchesses in the royal family have been making waves in the publishing industry with upcoming releases of their new books. Kate Middleton shared a glimpse inside her new picture book just one day after Meghan Markle revealed she was releasing a children’s book. Although the announcements came almost simultaneously, the two books are not related as each woman crafted their own stories to share with the world. They were inspired by recent events that have taken place in their own lives, as well as issues people around the world have been dealing with.

The coronavirus pandemic has been something people all over the world have been dealing with for well over a year. With lockdown restrictions and stay-at-home orders continuing to be put in place, lifted and then repeated, many people have had to adjust their everyday routine time and again. Kate decided to do something about this new way of life and encouraged folks in the United Kingdom to share photographs of how their days looked.

Moved by all the entries she received, Kate wanted to do something to share the photographs with more people. She came up with the brilliant idea of releasing a picture book to showcase what life was like in the U.K. during 2020. The Duchess of Cambridge has been busy gearing up for the upcoming release and has made her presence across social media platforms more known in the past week in preparation. Kate’s book, “Hold Still: A Portrait of Our Nation in 2020,” is set to be released on Friday, May 7.

Harper's Bazaar reported that during the first coronavirus lockdown in the United Kingdom in 2020, Kate encouraged others to share their everyday experiences through a series of images. She launched a campaign to help capture what life was like for people across the UK as everyone worked to get adjusted to their new lifestyles in lockdown. The campaign was a sheer success, and Kate decided to do something with all the cherished photos she received in the process.

She set out to construct a book full consisting of 100 of the most “poignant” portraits from the 31,000 entrants she received, according to Daily Star. “Hold Still: A Portrait of Our Nation in 2020” perfectly depicts what life was like for people as they laughed, struggled and adjusted to their changing routines due to the pandemic.

Kate shared a sneak peek into her new book full of photos with a quick video uploaded to Kensington Royal’s Twitter account on May 5, 2021. Flicking through the pages, Kate showed all the stunning photographs people had to look forward to, and it looks like the book might already become a bestseller!

The Duchess of Cambridge has partnered with the National Portrait Gallery and the mental health charity Mind, with all the proceeds from her book sales going to these establishments. Mind is an organization that provides advice and support to help people who experience mental health problems by improving services, raising awareness and promoting understanding. Their mission is simple yet strong: “We won’t give up until everyone experiencing a mental health problem gets support and respect.”

The Royal Publishing Industry

Kate is not the only duchess in the royal family who has an up-and-coming book. Meghan announced she was releasing a children’s book, “The Bench,” on May 4, 2021. According to Harper's Bazaar, the book focuses on a relationship between a father and a son, inspired by Prince Harry’s relationship with their son Archie Mountbatten-Windsor. Published by Penguin Random House Children’s Book with illustrations from the award-winning artist Christian Robinson, “The Bench” is set to be released on June 8, 2021. Meghan is set to lend her voice to narrate the audiobook edition.

Although Kate and Meghan have had some issues in the past, made public by Meghan’s shocking revelations during a tell-all interview with Oprah Winfrey, the two women seem to be on good terms now. Harry was spotted having a friendly conversation with Kate and his brother Prince William during Prince Philip’s funeral. With plenty of recent and upcoming milestones, the family has had a lot to grieve but also much to look forward to, including the birth of Meghan and Harry’s second child.

Kate and William have also been busy, launching their own YouTube channel. In a quick video uploaded to the channel on May 5, 2021, the couple was seen participating in royal engagements as well as engaging with their fans while out in public.

The duchesses have come a long way since first being introduced to the public eye, with each venturing on her own path. In a strange coincidence, Kate and Meghan both celebrated their upcoming book releases during the same week, with nothing but support for each other.
