The royal family has been overjoyed to welcome a new member into their fold, and new aunt Kate Middleton said she is excited to meet her new niece soon when she visited Connor Downs Academy with US First Lady Jill Biden on June 11, 2021.

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry first announced that they were expecting their second child on Valentine's Day in 2021, only to reveal the baby's sex during the March 7 interview special "Oprah with Meghan and Harry."

For months before the announcement of the birth, people across the world wondered if Harry would choose to pay tribute to his mother and grandmother with the birth of his daughter. Royal watchers had previously predicted that Harry and Meghan would choose to honor both Elizabeth and the late Prince Philip by picking a meaningful name for their daughter according to Express UK

While the royal family is unlikely to immediately assign the newborn a title, Meghan and Harry's daughter will become a princess if Prince Charles becomes king, as grandchildren of the king are automatically granted prince and princess status, according to Elle.

The Sun reported that a spokesperson for Buckingham Palace said, "The Queen, The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall, and The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have been informed and are delighted with the news of the birth of a daughter for The Duke and Duchess of Sussex."

Naturally, the royal family is thrilled to have a new baby to love! Lilibet is the queen's 11th great-grandchild. Of course, the queen was very interested to meet the newest addition to her family, as is everyone else in the royal family as well!

Harry and Meghan welcomed their daughter, Lilibet "Lili" Diana Mountbatten-Windsor, on June 4, 2021. The announcement of the birth came two days later, on June 6, and the newborn and her name have captured the attention of people across the world.

In the midst of all of the celebration of the newborn baby girl, Duke and Duchess of Cambridge Prince William and Kate Middleton made their own post on social media to congratulate Prince Harry, Meghan, and Archie.

Despite recent tensions between William and Harry, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge took to Instagram on Monday, June 8, to congratulate Meghan and Harry on the latest addition to their family. The caption read:

"We are all delighted by the happy news of the arrival of baby Lili. Congratulations to Harry, Meghan and Archie."

On Friday, June 11, Kate opened up about not having met her niece yet when she visited the Connor Downs Academy with US First Lady Dr. Jill Biden. At the event, Express UK reported that she was asked by a news reporter whether she has had a chance to meet Lili yet. Kate replied, "We haven’t met her yet, I hope that will be soon."

The duchess also said, "I wish her all the very best. I can’t wait to meet her."

Kate also revealed that she has not had a video call with her niece yet either. However, this is not the case with all members of the royal family. It comes as no surprise that Queen Elizabeth II was one of the first people in Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan's family that was introduced to their newborn daughter.

William and Kate were not the only royals who were happy to welcome the new addition to the family. As PEOPLE magazine was told by a source close to the couple, the queen was the first to meet little Lili via a video call. PEOPLE had already reported beforehand that Elizabeth had known Harry and Meghan wanted to pass her nickname down to their daughter beforehand.

According to the source of PEOPLE magazine, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, "were very excited and couldn't wait to share that their daughter arrived" almost as soon as they returned to their home after leaving Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital, which is situated not far from the family's home in Montecito, California.

It is not yet known when exactly the queen will meet her newest great-granddaughter in the flesh, but royal commentators are sure the occasion will come sooner than expected. Meghan and Harry will likely make their way back to the UK in June 2022 at the latest, as the Queen's Platinum Jubilee will be celebrated. It will mark her long-standing reign and historic 70 years on the throne as the UK's monarch and is expected to be the event of the year, pandemic permitting.

Before that time, Harry is expected to make a solo trip to London for the July 1 unveiling of the new statue in honor of his mother at Kensington Palace. He and his brother William had commissioned the statue. He is also expected to visit the queen, his grandmother, for lunch while he is on the island.
