Kate visited the Sunshine House, which is the children’s development center at the hospital and met with the Southwark Family Nurse Partnership. The program aims to help young families and first-time-parents by providing them with a specially trained nurse who visits the families regularly until the the child turns two years old.

Photos of the visit were posted on the Kensington Royal Instagram profile and showed the Duchess meeting mothers and children taking part in the program as well as representatives from the hospital.

The visit was part of Kate’s commitment to the Early Years Foundation Stage, which, according to the official governmental webpage, “sets standards for the learning, development, and care of your child from birth to 5 years old.”

This summer, the Duchess also visited Princess Charlotte’s and Prince George’s school St. Thomas’ Battersea for a thee hour workshop on children’s mental health.

According to People, the workshop covered many topics including body image issues.

“Kate came up and personally spoke to me afterwards, which was nice,” Hope Virgo, who was the organizer of the event told the publication. “We spoke about the work that I do in schools, particularly for younger people, and we spoke about the importance of early intervention and prevention. She was very chatty and friendly.”
