Kensington Palace announced yesterday that Queen Elizabeth will be passing on the role of Patron of The Royal Photographic Society to the Duchess of Cambridge Kate Middleton. The honor has been held by the Queen since 1952.
Kate has already taken the role in stride as she attended a photography workshop where she met with children to talk with them about their photography passion.

The workshop involved the organization Action for Children which, Kensington Palace says, are "committed to helping vulnerable children, young people, and their families, across the UK. The charity's 7,000 staff and volunteers operated over 522 services in the UK, improving the lives of 301,000 children, teenagers, parents, and carers last year."
The Duchess was smiling as she helped children while they were taking photos and giving them some pointers "Just look at everything around you. Maybe it’s in front of you, or far away but choose your subject and focus in on it.” The Mirror reported Kate saying.

Kate also had a funny run-in with a little boy named Josh. After looking at his photos she commented that he had a talent and to keep up his work. After meeting Kate, Josh said, “I didn’t know who she was but she wanted to see my pictures."
Josh’s mom, Natasha Evans, said her son suffers from behavioral problems and ADHD but Action for Children has helped his issues greatly improve. "It didn’t matter to Josh, he gets on with everyone, but in a few years time when he sees the pictures of him and Kate he’ll know how important today was," Natasha said to The Mirror.
Kate’s new role is only fitting as she has captured beautiful moments of her own children over the years. She recently captured a cute photo of her daughter Charlotte at their home in Norfolk sitting on a fence looking sweetly into the camera.
Kensington Palace added, “The Duchess of Cambridge has a longstanding interest in photography, and this patronage will further highlight the beneficial impact that art and creativity can have on emotional wellbeing, particularly for children and young people.” Well, we think it the perfect fit for Kate and we can’t wait to see more photos in the future!
