On BBC’s Big Night In, Kate Middleton and her family clapped for frontline workers fighting COVID-19, but after their appearance on the show, people couldn’t stop talking about the Duchess’ outfit, a floral Ghost London dress

The dress featured a statement collar as well as a ruffled trim, both details that were also right on trend in the ‘80s. Seeing the duchess in such a dress reminded many of her late mother-in-law, Princess Diana who used to wear very similar dresses decades ago.

During her wedding rehearsal back in 1981, Diana wore a dress that looks particularly similar to the one Kate appeared in on BBC’s fundraising show as both dresses featured a statement collar, a ruffled trim, and a floral print.

In 1982, when Diana was pregnant with her first son, Prince William, the Princess was seen in another dress that resembles Kate’s floral dress, this time she wore a light blue polka dot dress with a ruffled collar and ruffled sleeves.
